What is a professional development coach?

A Professional Development Coach is a specialist who helps individuals enhance their skills, performance, and career growth within their professional lives. They work with clients to identify strengths and areas for improvement, set career goals, and develop strategies to achieve those goals. Through one-on-one sessions, workshops, or training programs, they provide personalized guidance, feedback, and accountability. Their support can lead to improved job satisfaction, confidence, and career advancement.

How does a professional development coach typically collaborate with clients and other stakeholders to support growth initiatives?

Professional Development Coaches work closely with individual clients to assess their strengths, set actionable goals, and create personalized development plans. They often collaborate with human resources, managers, and organizational leaders to align coaching strategies with company objectives and foster a culture of continuous learning. Regular communication and feedback sessions are common, as coaches may facilitate workshops, monitor progress, and adjust approaches based on evolving needs. This collaborative environment is essential for ensuring both individual and organizational growth.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a professional development coach, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Professional Development Coach, you need expertise in adult learning principles, career development strategies, and typically a relevant degree or coaching certification. Familiarity with assessment tools like the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), Learning Management Systems (LMS), and goal-setting frameworks is common in this role. Exceptional interpersonal skills, active listening, and motivational abilities set standout coaches apart. These competencies ensure coaches can effectively guide clients toward growth, maximize their potential, and deliver measurable outcomes.

Job description

Personal Development Coach

Remote | Independent | Performance-Based Compensation

You've Built Your Career. What Will You Build Next?

You've spent years developing valuable professional skills. What if your next chapter was about using those skills to build something of your own?

We're looking for experienced professionals who are ready to leverage their communication, leadership, relationship-building, and business skills to develop and grow their own client portfolio within the personal development and leadership education sector.

This isn't about stepping into another traditional job. It's designed for someone drawn to greater independence, ownership, and the opportunity to build results directly connected to their own efforts.

If you've been thinking about entrepreneurship but don't necessarily want to create the products, educational programs, and business systems from scratch, keep reading.

A Different Kind of Professional Opportunity

You'll be responsible for developing your own client pipeline and building a book of business using established marketing, training, educational, and business systems. Performance-Based Compensation is based on individual results.

About The Reclaim Journey

The Reclaim Journey operates within the personal development and leadership education sector, connecting individuals with established educational programs designed to support personal growth, leadership, and professional development. We work with experienced professionals who want to apply the skills they've developed throughout their careers in a more independent, client-focused environment.

What You'll Do

Your primary focus will be developing relationships and building your own client portfolio.

You'll:

  • Develop and manage a pipeline of prospective clients.
  • Build your own book of business within the personal development and leadership education sector.
  • Generate interest using established marketing and client-development strategies.
  • Conduct structured discovery conversations to understand prospective clients' goals and interests.
  • Introduce qualified individuals to relevant personal development and leadership education programs.
  • Follow up with prospective clients throughout their decision-making process.
  • Build and maintain professional client relationships.
  • Utilize established digital marketing, communication, CRM, and business systems.
  • Participate in ongoing business, leadership, sales, and personal development education.
  • Independently manage your activity, pipeline, follow-up, and results.

Who We're Looking For

We're less concerned with a specific job title and more interested in the professional experience and mindset you bring. You may have experience in: Business Development | Sales | Account Management | Recruiting | Customer Success | Consulting | Professional Services | Real Estate | Insurance | Leadership | Management | Entrepreneurship

Previous sales or business-development experience is helpful but not required.

You may be a strong fit if you:

  • Have established professional work experience.
  • Communicate confidently and enjoy connecting with people.
  • Are comfortable developing new relationships and following up.
  • Want to build and manage your own book of business.
  • Are self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently.
  • Are willing to learn marketing, client acquisition, and business-development skills.
  • Value personal development, leadership, and continuous learning.
  • Want greater ownership over your professional and financial results.

What You'll Have Access To

Rather than developing everything from the ground up, you'll have access to:

  • Established personal development and leadership education.
  • Structured onboarding and training.
  • Established marketing and client-development processes.
  • Digital communication, CRM, and business systems.
  • Ongoing leadership, business, sales, and personal development education.
  • Mentorship and professional development.
  • A fully remote and flexible operating structure.

This May Be Right for You If...

You've built a career you're proud of, but you've started thinking differently about what you want your future to look like. Maybe you want greater flexibility. Greater ownership. Or the opportunity to build an income-producing client portfolio that's directly connected to your own activity and results. You don't necessarily want to invent a product or business model from scratch, but you're willing to learn how to develop clients, build relationships, and take responsibility for growing something of your own.

If that sounds more exciting to you than simply finding your next traditional job, we'd be interested in learning more about you.

Please apply only if you are genuinely open to this type of independent professional model.
