Job description

The Hockomock Area YMCA is seeking enthusiastic, committed Gymnastics Team Coaches who are passionate about developing athletes and building confidence through sport. In this role, you will lead, instruct, and inspire members of our Gymnastics Team while fostering a safe, supportive, and engaging environment. Coaches play a vital role in helping athletes grow not only in skill, but in character, teamwork, and lifelong healthy habits.

Essential Functions

  • Plan and lead assigned practices and classes in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and program standards
  • FollowUSA Gymnastics (USAG) rules and remain current on routines, progressions, and expectations
  • Learn, practice, and consistently apply proper spotting and safety techniques
  • Create positive, encouraging relationships with athletes, families, and fellow staff members
  • Communicate clearly and professionally regarding schedules, expectations, and program updates
  • Maintain accurate records, including attendance, athlete progress, and required documentation
  • Uphold all YMCA policies and procedures, including child protection, safety, and emergency protocols
  • Monitor the condition, cleanliness, and safety of equipment and facilities; promptly report concerns
  • Complete administrative responsibilities such as timekeeping, attendance tracking, and progress reporting
  • Support the YMCA's annualReach Out for Youth campaign and broader mission-driven initiatives
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities as required
