Head After School Program Counselor-Seasonal Temporary Position
The Central Clemson Recreation Center is looking for a Head After School Care Counselor to join us for the coming school year and beyond! This position will start in late July / early August. The head counselor must be available Monday - Friday from approximately 1:30 pm - 6:00 pm with a max of 25 hours per week.
The Head Counselor (HC) should be a reliable, organized, creative, energetic, and passionate individual committed to working with children. This role demands a professional yet enthusiastic demeanor, coupled with strong communication and leadership skills.
Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills
Key Responsibilities:
  • Child Supervision & Engagement: Effectively lead and supervise children in daily program activities, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. Actively participate in and maintain a positive attitude towards all activities.
  • Skill Development: Teach and assist in teaching various skills and activities to participants, as well as homework assistance.
  • Program Management Support: Assist with the development, implementation, and overall management of the after-school program. This includes program and activity development, file management, payment collection, parent/guardian communication, etc.
  • Behavior Management & Communication: Handle behavior issues as they arise and communicate effectively with parents/guardians when necessary.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Serve as a leader and positive role model for other counselors, providing supervision, feedback, and assistance as needed. Offer support for any staff-related issues.
  • Facilities Management: Ensure areas used by CCRC participants are organized and cleaned daily.

Minimum qualifications & Requirements
Qualifications:
The candidate should be at least 18 years old. This position requires drug testing and background check prior to employment.
