The Opportunity
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Focus on large-scale water and wastewater infrastructure projects with a focus on the delivery of projects by leading significant portions of a variety of facilities throughout the cycle of design and construction, and startup phases as a technical specialist or lead
  • Hands-on involvement in developing reports or technical memos, completing studies, detailed designs, and specifications, collaborating to complete cost estimates, and preparing contract documents
  • Participation in scheduling, budgeting, and contract administration for infrastructure projects is also part of the role, including involvement in business development and preparation of proposals Coordinate with all other internal/external team members on moderately complex projects.
  • Assist with identification of key client interests and drivers on less complex projects.
  • Communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on less complex projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform design of projects from the conceptual and bid phase through design completion for project needs and requirements that are set by the project managers based off client needs
  • Assist the Engineering Manager in maintaining project schedules and budgets
  • Assist the Engineering Manager in managing sub-consultants
  • Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, interface directly with the client or sub-consultants
  • Support business development through writing of technical approaches, scopes of work, and presentation to clients
  • Utilizes knowledge of regularly used civil concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the water engineering industry
  • Applies knowledge to complex projects, find and develop non-standard design solutions to better serve clients project specifications
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to less experienced engineers
  • Responsible for effective communication with other engineering disciplines and project team
  • Prepares a variety of complex engineering deliverables.
  • Performs complex research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
  • Prepares complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles. Manages assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Plans and conducts independent evaluation, selection and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Reviews engineering work and/or assignments of early career professionals.
  • Is responsible for one or more of the following: overseeing collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work; leading smaller production teams; and serving as the responsible charge for a project.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Licensed PE or ability and interest to obtain PE and/or be in active pursuit of registration
  • Thorough understanding or water and wastewater design (i.e., Infrastructure, Conveyance, Pump Stations/Lift Stations)
  • Ability and motivation to lead portions of complex projects with guidance and mentorship

Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

  • Professional engineering registration is preferred or in active pursuit

  • Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
  • Typical office environment, typical construction environment, extreme weather conditions, high noise level, safety hazards (electric currents, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to chemicals), atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation).
