Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION NATURE OF WORK Palm Tran, Inc. is seeking professional Bus Operators with excellent customer service and communication skills. This position is responsible for performing skilled work operating all public transit vehicles on all scheduled routes and special services throughout Palm Beach County.

Work involves operating diesel powered passenger buses over prescribed routes within set areas and maintaining records and logs, as may be required along with accurate passenger counts. Bus Operators have the responsibility for the safety of their passengers, the vehicle operated, and for completing the assigned route within the prescribed time schedule. Assigned schedules are based on bids and seniority.

Employees in this position provide general information to passengers and/or general public, as requested. QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or equivalent certification/GED; Valid Class E Driver's License. Individuals who are hired with Class E Driver's License will be provided paid training.

(Must include a copy of your current driver's license with application.) PREFERENCES Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B with Passenger (P) endorsement OR CDL Learner's Permit with Passenger (P) endorsement. Recent experience (within the past five years) operating a transit bus, twenty-two (22) + passenger bus, or heavy equipment. (Must specify on application.)
