Job Description
What You Will Do:
- Evaluate students' performance capacities and deficits relative to development, sensory integration, proprioception, motor skills, leisure skills, and activities of daily living.
- Develop and implement, as part of the IEP, treatment plans that address each student's sensory, motor, participation, and functional needs.
- Provide direct therapeutic services that strengthen sensory regulation, fine-motor development, motor planning, executive functioning, self-regulation, and participation in school routines.
- Collaborate and consult with ASD Program staff to identify barriers to engagement and support student participation and independence across instructional and non-instructional settings.
- Coach classroom staff to build their capacity to use research-based occupational therapy strategies, including sensory-motor routines, environmental supports, and accommodations.
- Demonstrate and instruct school personnel and families so they can consistently implement therapeutic strategies, sensory tools and strategies, and motor activities throughout the day.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary team members-teachers, paraprofessionals, behavior specialists, SLPs, and PTs -to align interventions and support students with complex sensory and motor needs.
Under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Ancillary and Health Services.
Need to Have:
- Bachelor's degree
- American Occupational Therapy Association Certificate
- Current registration as Occupational Therapist in Michigan
