Role Summary
The Chief Product & Technology Officer (CPTO) is a strategic and operational executive responsible for defining and delivering Safeguard Global's end-to-end product and technology vision. This role unifies Product Management, Software Engineering, and IT under a single leadership structure to accelerate innovation, strengthen platform scalability, and enhance customer and employee experience.
As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CPTO will partner closely with the CEO and peers to drive business growth, product differentiation, and operational excellence across a globally distributed workforce. The role is instrumental in advancing Safeguard Global's position as a market leader in global workforce enablement through modern, scalable, and secure technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Strategy & Innovation
  • Define and execute a multi-year product strategy and roadmap aligned to company growth objectives and market opportunities.
  • Lead development of differentiated, scalable solutions across global payroll, EOR, workforce management, and HR services.
  • Drive customer-centric product design, leveraging data, insights, and client feedback to prioritize investments.
  • Establish clear product governance, lifecycle management, and commercialization strategies.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success to ensure strong product-market fit and competitive positioning.

2. Software Engineering & Platform Development
  • Lead global engineering teams to deliver high-quality, secure, and scalable software platforms.
  • Drive adoption of modern architecture (e.g., cloud-native, API-first, microservices) to support global scale and integrations.
  • Establish best practices in Agile/DevOps, CI/CD, and engineering excellence.
  • Ensure reliability, performance, and uptime of core platforms supporting 56+ countries.
  • Oversee technical due diligence and integration for potential partnerships, acquisitions, and ecosystem expansion.

3. IT & Enterprise Technology
  • Oversee internal IT strategy, ensuring systems enable productivity, scalability, and a seamless employee experience.
  • Lead enterprise systems including HRIS, finance platforms, and collaboration tools.
  • Ensure strong cybersecurity, data privacy, and compliance posture across all geographies.
  • Drive operational efficiency through technology automation and infrastructure optimization.

4. Data, Analytics & AI Enablement
  • Define a data strategy to enhance decision-making, product capabilities, and client insights.
  • Advance use of AI/automation within products and internal operations.
  • Establish data governance frameworks ensuring accuracy, compliance, and accessibility.

5. Transformation & Operational Excellence
  • Lead cross-functional transformation initiatives to modernize legacy systems and processes.
  • Build scalable operating models for product and engineering aligned to company growth.
  • Drive cost discipline and ROI-focused investment decisions across technology spend.

6. Leadership & Talent Development
  • Build, lead, and inspire high-performing global teams across Product, Engineering, and IT.
  • Develop succession plans and leadership bench strength.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

7. Executive & Board Engagement
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Board on technology trends, risks, and investment priorities.
  • Present product and technology strategy, roadmaps, and performance metrics at Board level.
  • Act as an external thought leader representing Safeguard Global with clients, partners, and industry forums.

Qualifications & Experience
Required
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience across Engineering and Product management, including executive-level roles.
  • Proven track record leading end-to-end SaaS/platform organizations at global scale.
  • Experience overseeing both customer-facing products and internal IT functions.
  • Strong understanding of global workforce, HR tech, payroll, or adjacent enterprise software ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated success driving digital transformation and platform modernization.
  • Experience managing distributed, multi-region teams and complex regulatory environments.

Preferred
  • Experience in EOR, global payroll, or workforce management solutions.
  • Background in integrating acquisitions or scaling through high-growth phases.
  • Familiarity with compliance requirements across EU, APAC, and Americas.
