Position Overview
As a Virtual Production Operator, you will work alongside the Virtual Production Supervisor to support the technical execution of virtual production at Synapse Virtual Production's Atlanta studio-a next-generation facility developed through a strategic, multi-year collaboration with Tyler Perry Studios and located on the historic 365-acre Tyler Perry Studios campus.
Utilizing a variety of ICVFX and content playback pipelines, this is a central position to the execution of every production day. Whether a feature film, tv show, commercial, music video, or tangential Virtual Production related experience, you will be a vital part of the core service offering.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Virtual Production Supervisor to prepare and run Disguise Projects and Unreal Engine environments for in-camera VFX shooting workflows.
  • Collaborate with the Virtual Production Supervisor to prepare and run 2D video plates in Disguise, including ingest, versioning, and aligning.
  • Assist with Unreal Engine setup, calibration, and operations during preproduction, and shoots.
  • Identify and execute on any customization, optimization, or blueprint needs for environments and video plates.
  • Consistently maintain a high standard of quality and speed in virtual production workflows.
  • Collaborate within a team towards a common goal and prioritize conflicting tasks effectively.
  • Work with Production and Virtual Production Supervisor to establish and maintain color pipelines per project requirements.
  • Possess essential Virtual Production experience in Feature Films or Television, including traditional filmmaking on-set experience.
  • Oversee studio maintenance and implement technology upgrades during downtime between shoots.

Requirements
  • Demonstrate an excellent knowledge of Unreal Engine, including Blueprints, Livelink and tracking systems, LED tech, as well as Maya and experience with the visual effects pipeline.
  • Utilize technical understanding of filmmaking, cameras, film back, aperture, shutter, FOV, etc.
  • Knowledge of stage hardware and systems
  • Knowledge of Disguise Programming and Operation
  • Knowledge of Renderstream execution
  • Knowledge of networking and ICVFX infrastructure
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with the VP supervisor and Synapse tech team
  • Ability to execute technically difficult work and maintain a productive attitude under the pressure of live-action production.
  • Familiar with version control such as Perforce
  • Familiar with OCIO/ACES color pipelines
  • Must be detail oriented and organized
  • Experience with Pixera and other media servers preferred
  • Knowledge of physical lighting protocols such as DMX, artnet, and sACN preferred.
