Production Researcher information

What does a production researcher do?

Production Researchers play a crucial role during pre-production by gathering, verifying, and organizing information that shapes the content and logistics of a media project. They might research topics, secure filming locations, identify and contact potential interviewees, and ensure factual accuracy for scripts or segments. Their work directly supports producers and directors, helping to anticipate challenges and streamline the production process. Effective collaboration with creative and logistical teams is essential, as their research often informs key creative decisions and practical arrangements.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a production researcher?

To thrive as a Production Researcher, you need strong research skills, attention to detail, and a relevant degree in media, journalism, or a related field. Familiarity with databases, online research tools, and content management systems is typically required. Excellent communication, organization, and adaptability help you collaborate effectively and work to tight deadlines. These skills ensure accurate, timely, and relevant information supports the creative and logistical needs of production teams.
