The AUKUS, Submarines, and Industrial Base Group (ASIG), within the Sea, Land, Air Division, provides timely, objective, analytic assessments that integrate technical, operational, programmatic, policy and business analysis to Director Submarine Program directorates and key stakeholders surrounding submarine platform construction. Director Submarine Program unifies submarine platform procurement activities, which includes the Columbia-class SSBN program (a Major Defense Acquisition Program and the Navy's top acquisition priority), the Virginia-class SSN program, the new SSN-X program (developing the next generation attack submarine), and the AUKUS Integration and Acquisition Office, to bring improved capabilities to our undersea forces. Analysts and Engineers supporting Director Submarine Program will continue SPA's decades of support to the SSBN force, as well as supporting oversight of cutting-edge attack submarine construction, assisting in developing the design requirements for the SSN platform of the future, and helping plan and execute new and innovative strategies to strengthen the critical submarine shipbuilding industrial base. These are high-profile, major acquisition and manufacturing programs of significant importance to the future capabilities of the US Navy in an era of renewed strategic competition. #MC
Responsibilities
In this role, you will serve in a program analyst capacity as a trusted agent directly supporting client program managers, assisting with all aspects of planning, management, and execution of a growing defense R&D and manufacturing program. You will act independently and with high initiative, engaging with client leadership and stakeholders to identify needs and tackle program challenges.
You will collaborate closely with the scheduling team, program managers, and key stakeholders to generate and manage master integrated schedules for current and future projects. Your efforts will support technical planning and resource management across all program initiatives, ensuring efficiency and alignment with broader program objectives. Additionally, you will be expected to effectively manage and maintain a robust production planning tool that will enable leadership and stakeholders to make strategic programmatic decisions.
In addition, you will develop and refine tracking and analytical tools to improve schedule visibility and decision-making while working with client leadership to develop and implement production schedule scenarios. Leveraging a working understanding of systems, mechanical, industrial, marine, or other relevant engineering fields, you will distill complex technical and programmatic information into actionable courses of action for leadership decision-making.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Ability to work onsite, up to full time, depending upon client needs
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM, Data Science, Operations Research, or a relevant technical field
  • 5+ years of experience supporting defense manufacturing, Navy shipbuilding, research and development, defense acquisition programs, or other relevant initiatives
  • Demonstrated expertise managing projects or programs, including cost, schedule, and risk management, while using tools like Microsoft Project
  • Proven ability to coordinate, communicate, and act across multiple government and industry stakeholders, simplifying complex problems and delivering actionable recommendations
  • Current DoD security clearance (minimum Secret), with the ability to maintain it throughout employment

Additional Qualifications Desired, but not required:
  • Master's degree in a STEM or business field
  • Experience in operations research specifically applied to industrial/manufacturing environments
  • Working knowledge of coding languages such as Python and business analysis tools like Power BI, ERP, and Excel
  • Familiarity with Navy requirements and program office organizations/processes
  • Relevant certifications, such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Lean Six Sigma
  • Experience cataloging and troubleshooting electronic and mechanical systems, particularly in defense-related production environments or manufacturing facilities
