Job description

Eaton's Electrical Sector - ARS division is currently seeking a Production Planner. This is an onsite role based at our Lincoln, IL manufacturing facility supporting our Residential & Wiring Devices products. Relocation assistance is available to candidates currently residing in the US.
The Production Planner plays a pivotal role in keeping our operations running at peak performance, transforming customer demand into executable production strategies across Fabrication, Paint, and Assembly. This position orchestrates the flow of materials, labor, capacity, and inventory across multiple product lines to ensure products are delivered safely, efficiently, and on time. Driving key metrics including On-Time Delivery (OTD), On-Time Performance (OTP), Stock Fill Rate (SFR), and inventory optimization, this role is at the center of operational excellence and business success.
As the vital connection between customers, manufacturing, materials management, and leadership teams, the Production Planner balances big-picture strategy with hands-on execution. Success in this role requires a customer-first mindset, strong analytical skills, and a passion for continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to streamline operations, improve productivity, and support the company's growth.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $71,000 - $105,000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
What you'll do:
  • Develop and execute integrated production plans and schedules across Fabrication, Paint, and Assembly operations, balancing customer demand, labor, capacity, materials, and equipment resources to ensure optimal production flow and delivery performance.
  • Drive operational excellence by achieving key performance metrics, including On-Time Performance (OTP), On-Time Delivery (OTD), Stock Fill Rate (SFR), inventory turns, schedule attainment, manufacturing productivity, and Work-in-Process (WIP) reduction.
  • Lead capacity planning and production optimization efforts, proactively identifying constraints, balancing workloads, resolving schedule disruptions, and implementing strategies that maximize throughput, asset utilization, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Customer Service, and Manufacturing teams to align customer demand with production execution while maintaining operational stability and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage inventory and planning systems performance by maintaining ERP/MRP planning parameters, monitoring inventory levels, optimizing material flow, and minimizing excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory.
  • Analyze production, demand, and operational performance data to generate actionable insights, support strategic decision-making, communicate business metrics, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement by building strong relationships across all levels of the organization while supporting safety, quality, environmental, and customer-focused objectives.

Qualifications:
Basic (required) Qualifications:
  • High school diploma/GED from accredited institution and five (5) years of experience in production planning, scheduling, materials management, or manufacturing operations OR a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations management, business, engineering, or related field from accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Three (3) years of experience in production planning, scheduling, materials management, or manufacturing operations.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning, capacity planning, finite scheduling, demand management, and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Knowledge of inventory management principles, including safety stock, inventory turns, WIP reduction, and inventory control strategies.

Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to utilize data and operational metrics to drive decision-making and achieve OTP, OTD, SFR, inventory, and labor efficiency objectives.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and leadership skills with the ability to build strong relationships, influence change, and effectively engage both management and hourly employees in achieving business objectives.
  • Passion for deploying lean manufacturing and operational excellence methodologies focused on improving productivity, delivery performance, and waste reduction.
