About the Role:

The Production Planning Manager will lead the production planning team and will be responsible for developing production plans, master scheduling processes, inventory strategies, and fulfillment strategies that deliver short and long-term business results. This role requires strong leadership, analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments to achieve business results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Production Planning & Master Scheduling:
    • Lead the development and maintenance of master production schedules based on customer demand, sales forecasts, capacity, and inventory levels.
    • Develop production and fulfillment strategies through cross-functional engagement involving sales, operations, and procurement teams to ensure production plans drive business performance.
    • Establish processes and teams that monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to meet delivery deadlines, customer requirements, and business results.
  • Hire, train, mentor, and develop production planners, setting clear goals and conducting regular performance reviews.
  • Build planning capability, standard work, and succession depth within the team to support business growth.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the planning organization.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Develop inventory management strategies and targets that ensure adequate stock while minimizing excess inventory and obsolescence.
    • Oversee inventory audits and cycle count programs, ensuring discrepancies are reconciled and inventory records achieve the desired financial performance of the business.
    • Partner with procurement and warehouse leadership to optimize inventory turnover and support production needs and business performance.
  • Material Coordination:
    • Partner with procurement to develop sourcing and fulfillment strategies that ensure timely availability of raw materials and components for current and long-term production targets.
    • Serve as the escalation point with suppliers and internal stakeholders to quickly resolve issues related to delivery schedules, quality, and pricing.
    • Implement strategies to mitigate supply chain disruptions and ensure continuity of supply.
  • Performance Monitoring and Improvement:
    • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and governance systems related to production efficiency, schedule adherence, and inventory turns.
    • Build processes that analyze production data and trends to identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and overall business performance.
    • Champion lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Partner with engineering, quality assurance, and logistics teams to develop, improve, and support new product introductions and ensure product quality standards are met. Communicate production schedules, material requirements, and performance results to leadership and relevant stakeholders to facilitate smooth operations.
Qualifications:
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to hire, develop, and motivate a high-performing team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail; ability to prioritize and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Excel, and other production planning tools/software.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to influence stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in production planning, materials management, or operations within a manufacturing environment, including minimum of 2 years leading and developing a team.
  • Command of lean manufacturing principles and MRP systems; APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM or CSCP) preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
  • Prolonged periods standing on the manufacturing floor and sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

May work in various settings at the Maverick Power facilities, in offices, in multiple shops, and in commercial buildings. Maintaining the same position or posture while performing tasks and sitting for prolonged periods.
