Position Overview
Preci Manufacturing is seeking an experienced, hands-on Production Manager to lead daily production operations across our precision CNC machining facility.
This position is responsible for production scheduling, staffing, workflow, output, safety, quality, and delivery performance. The Production Manager will lead production employees while ensuring that work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with customer and company requirements.
The Production Manager will establish daily priorities, coordinate labor and machine capacity, monitor job progress in Global Shop Solutions, remove production barriers, and hold departments accountable for results. This position will work closely with Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Shipping, and company leadership to meet customer commitments and improve overall manufacturing performance.

Key Responsibilities
Lead daily production operations across CNC milling, turning, grinding, the tool room, and related manufacturing areas
Develop and manage production schedules and priorities based on customer due dates, department backlogs, machine capacity, staffing, material availability, tooling, and outside-process requirements
Direct section supervisors and leads in assigning employees, balancing workloads, coordinating coverage, and determining overtime needs
Monitor job progress, work in process, production backlogs, material movement, and transaction accuracy in Global Shop Solutions
Lead regular production meetings, communicate priorities clearly, follow up on commitments, and promote accountability across departments
Identify and remove production constraints involving equipment, staffing, material, tooling, quality, maintenance, documentation, or outside processing
Ensure production follows approved drawings, routings, work instructions, inspection requirements, and AS9100 procedures; partner with Quality on nonconformances and corrective actions
Develop and monitor key performance indicators, including on-time delivery, throughput, machine utilization, setup and cycle times, labor efficiency, scrap, rework, and work-in-process levels
Lead practical continuous-improvement efforts that reduce delays, setup time, cycle time, scrap, rework, and unnecessary material movement
Strengthen cross-training, skills development, succession planning, and communication while promoting a respectful and accountable workplace
Reinforce safe work practices, required personal protective equipment, good housekeeping, and timely reporting and investigation of safety concerns
Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, suppliers, and company leadership on production requirements, customer commitments, equipment needs, and operational priorities

Work Location
This position is fully on-site at Preci Manufacturing in Winooski, Vermont. Because the position may require access to export-controlled technical data, applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, engineering, operations management, or a related discipline is preferred; an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience may be considered
Five or more years of manufacturing experience preferred, including at least two years in a production-supervision or management role
Experience in precision CNC machining, aerospace and defense manufacturing, or a related high-quality manufacturing environment is strongly preferred
Experience scheduling and managing high-mix, low-volume, or job-shop production across multiple departments or work centers
Working knowledge of CNC machining operations, production routings, engineering drawings, work instructions, tolerances, and basic GD&T
Demonstrated ability to lead employees, establish expectations, coach performance, resolve conflict, and hold teams accountable
Strong production-planning, capacity-management, organizational, and hands-on problem-solving skills
Experience using ERP systems to manage schedules, job status, labor, material, and production data; Global Shop Solutions experience is preferred
Knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, nonconforming-material control, corrective action, and other quality-system requirements is preferred
Familiarity with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, standard work, and data-driven productivity and cost improvement
Ability to develop and use production metrics and reports; strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with production employees, supervisors, engineers, Quality, and company leadership
