Job description

We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to run the day-to-day operations of our Boston Development Center (BDC). In this role, you own the execution of the pilot operation, assembly builds, rapid prototyping shop operations, and manufacturing process development lines. You are accountable for delivering on build commitments, safely, on time, on quality.

This is a high-mix, high-development environment. Build campaigns change frequently, product configurations evolve between iterations, and you must keep operations running smoothly through the ambiguity. The ideal candidate is a hands-on and data driven leader who thrives on the manufacturing floor, coaches teams, drives operational discipline, bridges between engineering and manufacturing and delivers results in fast-paced pilot manufacturing environments.

Key job responsibilities
- Own the production execution across the BDC, assembly build campaigns, rapid prototyping shop, and manufacturing process development lines. Deliver on production goals (safety, quality, schedule, cost).
- Manage and develop production supervisors and their teams (supervisors, technicians, machinists, associates).

Set clear expectations, coach performance, and build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Drive daily production planning and execution, ensure build plans are translated into actionable shift plans, resources are allocated, and production issues are resolved rapidly on the floor.
- Ensure safety and quality standards are maintained across all operations.

Drive 5S, standard work, and housekeeping discipline. Own EHS compliance for the production floor.
- Partner with engineering, quality, and planning teams to align operational capacity with build requirements.

Proactively flag constraints, resource conflicts, and risks to leadership.
- Support new product introductions and build campaign transitions, coordinate staffing, training, workspace setup, and material staging to enable smooth start-ups.
- Drive operational metrics (first pass yield, schedule adherence, throughput, safety incidents) and lead continuous improvement initiatives to raise the performance bar.

- Manage workforce planning, hiring, shift scheduling, cross-training, and skill development to maintain operational flexibility in a high-mix environment.
- Ensure readiness, coordinate with maintenance and facilities to maintain uptime for CNC machines, 3D printers, assembly stations, and test equipment.
- Foster open communication and collaboration across shifts and functional teams.

Create an environment that is productive, safe, and engaged.
