Scope of Position
The Product Estimator is responsible for estimating cost and feasibility to customer specific solutions that are not in the standard product offering. Primary responsibilities will include estimating solutions per customer specifications, and supporting the order through production, and providing customers with all required documentation.
Focus: Specials and Custom Product Business
Functional Touchpoints: Product, Engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Sales, Customer Service, Quality.
This position reports to the Director of Global Product line. This role is onsite and is based in Sparks, Nevada.
Accountabilities:
  • Technical Evaluation & Proposal
  • Cost accuracy/estimations
  • Sales & Customer service support
  • Liaison between design, operations, sales, and product management

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Technical analysis of customer requirements to determine the most cost-effective and practical solution to meet the customers' needs.
  • Cost estimate for the proposed solution(s), ensuring the final quotation captures all costs for the project (product design, production, etc.).
  • Proposal package including quotation, technical data sheet, preliminary technical drawings, exceptions/clarifications table, etc.
  • Technical negotiation with customers.
  • Performs activities to optimize workload and expertise while meeting committed deadlines, financial targets, and resource constraints
  • Collaborate with others to establish standards for designs, record keeping, processes, and project reporting
  • Considers regulations and any other codes and standards required by the customer's project
  • Focused on continuous improvement to improve process efficiency and product quality
  • Reports project progress, status and issues to product team and other stakeholders, escalating issues for resolution as necessary
  • Consults with sales or lead/ project manager to clarify customer requirements for orders to prevent project delays and added costs
  • Regularly interacts with Production teams to support production team and address production issues.
  • Manages cost of the designs to meet quoted margin
  • Responsibility directly tied to Watts Value (Integrity, Accountability, Continuous Improvement, Transparency)
  • Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by Director of Global Product Line or Company management.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in a related technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-5 years of successful experience in estimating with a strong technical background.
  • Proficiency in CAD software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Travel: Less than 10%
  • Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.
  • Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks and required pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in SolidWorks
  • Experience in Dynamics 365

Working Conditions
While performing the job duties, you will be working on-site at a manufacturing facility and will perform the majority of your duties in an office environment. You may, at times, be required to be present on the manufacturing floor and will be required to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment. You will be required to work in the office at the Haws North America Headquarters in Sparks, NV location (Monday - Friday). Your scheduled work hours will be communicated to you by your manager.
Physical Requirements: Specific physical abilities required for this position include, but are not limited to:
