Job description

Job Summary:  This position will oversee and manage multiple projects to ensure safe and efficient roofing and/or siding installations.  Responsible for ensuring that production schedules, work orders, and assignments are achieved according to guidelines and timelines. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and coordinates activities of the field team engaged in new construction residential roofing and/or siding. 
  • Sources and recruits labor crews. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strong background and understanding of various roofing and/or siding and market knowledge in production. 
  • Manages Builder activity and responds to and serves as liaison to production team and builders. Assisting with proper delegation and response times to help assist the Warranty and repairs manager, for reasonable and timely execution of repairs and installations. 
  • Promotes relationship building with new and existing customers to increase business. 
  • Directs and supervises Field operation projects given to field supervisors related to specified job sites and communities. 
  • Confirms all post and pre inspections have been performed and documented correctly and according to AOCG standards. 
  • Works to improve processes and employee relations.
  • Directs workers on projects installation and repairs with shingle and metal roofs giving proper guidance on material and direction. 
  • Inspects work areas to determine type of work required, materials and equipment needed to be used. 
  • Serves as a point of contact for field issues beyond the scope of Field Supervisor’s work. 
  • Conducts safety briefings and meetings with subcontractors. 
  • Works closely with scheduling, estimating and warehouse departments
  • Identifies material and take-off discrepancies. 
  • Responsible for overall supervision and training of Field Supervisors with Construction Area managers or senior builder personnel when field issues arise and cannot be resolved with Field Supervisor and Superintendent. 
  • Reviews all upcoming installs, and take-off sheets against prints for accuracy and discrepancies and resolves accordingly.
  • Conduct Field Supervisor safety training regarding tools, truck maintenance and proper usage. 
  • Work with the HR manager in conducting employee interviews for open positions, Personal Improvement Plans, Corrective Action plans, dismissals, and yearly performance reviews.
  • Initiates and plans to motivate workers to help reach individual as well as team goals and potential. 
  • Performance reviews of labor sources installations with Quality Control manager and Operations manager for all unacceptable installations, penalties, and dismissals from AOCG's workforce. 
  • Solicitation of additional project work and labor crews when time and efforts are available. 
  • Process and confirm proper invoices for labor sources and back charges are appropriately handled in a timely manner.
  • On-site communication with labor sources for proper installation methods and safety standards.  All violations to be noted and relayed back to Operations Manager. 
  • Continued education with other site managers and roofers for any changes in building or builders’ standards. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to follow directions.
  • Technical expertise using various computer systems.
  • Management experience in the construction industry.
  • Strong personable skills and effective communication.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree and equivalent industry experience required.  Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of roofing or siding experience.
  • Excellent mentoring, coaching and people management skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Employees are required to lift a maximum of 80 pounds safely, following proper lifting techniques. For any items exceeding 80 pounds or items that are awkward, bulky, or difficult to handle, employees must use team lifts or approved mechanical lifting devices.
  • Must be able to climb ladder and traverse roof at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction site in various types of weather.
