Summary:

FET Variperm is class leading in service and supply, specializing in sand control engineering, completion and work-over tools and cased hole fishing services. Our very name derives from the concept of Variable Permeability – the ability to change permeability to control results. And that’s what we do: our customized sand control solutions allow us to respond quickly to the ever-changing variability of our customers’ vertical and horizontal well operations.

Production Laborers perform a variety of duties depending on the specific department they are working in. Duties include operating basic hand tools, assisting machine operators and welders. Housekeeping and material handling are also components of this position. This role requires lifting to 45lbs without assistance. Active participation in the company HSE program and adherence to all company policies and procedures is required. Other duties and special projects may be assigned. The position schedule will be primarily nightshift, however, it may involve various shifts and overtime hours depending on the scope of work.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Perform general tasks as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Handle materials – within the shop and outdoors as required.
  • Assisting various machine operators in setup; moving materials in and out of the shop using overhead hoist and forklift.
  • Operate basic hand tools and powered hand tools.
  • Operate various equipment as described in company procedures.
  • Assist in loading/unloading of pipe deliveries/pick-ups.
  • Stacking/unstacking pipe adhering to strict procedures.
  • Perform work safely and follow established work procedures.
  • General shop cleaning.
  • Adhere to health, safety and quality policies, as well as all company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure work areas and clean and organized.
  • Active participation in company HSE program.
  • Other duties as required.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Able to meet deadlines while working in a safe manner.
  • Mechanically inclined, ability to use small hand tools and/or power tools.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team as well as independently, to complete tasks.
  • Strong aptitude to understand drawings.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to follow and understand both oral and written instructions in English.
  • Grade 12 basic math skills.

Education

  • Grade 12 or GED preferred. Additional education past high school would be an asset.

Experience

  • Forklift training or experience considered an asset.
  • Preference to those with Overhead Crane experience and/or certification.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or similar environment preferred but not required.
