Food Production Facility Manager

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Food Production Facility Manager to lead the daily operations of our food manufacturing facility- our Commissary. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and is passionate about food safety, operational excellence, and team development.

As the Facility Manager, you will oversee all aspects of production, quality, maintenance, inventory, and employee performance while ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and company standards.

What You'll Do
  • Execute and oversee all food prep and delivery/logistical efforts of the Commissary; the Commissary services any and all needs of the Simply Salad locations, particularly food and supplies needed to serve our products in the freshest and most accessible state humanly possible daily 
  • Manage production schedules and perform hands on daily duties including large volume inventory management and ordering, Commissary staff scheduling, and logging/reporting of key data
  • Facilitate multi location supply needs and delivery execution of large scale orders 6 days/week 
  • Fully support all store GMs in their supply needs, and hold them accountable to maintain inventory procedural best practices
  • Ensure product quality, freshness and presentation always meet Simply Salad standards 
  • Protect the confidentiality of Simply Salad’s proprietary recipes, and ensure they are strictly followed during all prep efforts 
  • Maintain an exhaustive effort to constantly exceed all food safety and sanitation requirements  
  • Oversee the selection, training, development and performance of Simply Salad prep staff and Drivers, while managing team member relations through coaching and team building efforts
  • Communicate effectively with all vendors and grow these relationships, while developing and pursuing ideas to lower our cost of goods 
  • Maintain a labor percentage that meets company standards 
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills to solve challenges while maintaining a positive atmosphere in the facility
  • Be a brand ambassador Simply Salad by inspiring its core values of making healthy food convenient and practical for everyone 
  •  Maintain relationships with local property management and the Landlord of the facility, as well as with neighbors, accommodating his time to time requests and wishes.
  • Keep all common areas that our facility affects clean, and free of debris or any messes created by our staff or others, according to company policy.  
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, HACCP, GMP, OSHA, and all applicable food safety regulations.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and manage operating budgets while identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Lead facility inspections, audits, and corrective action initiatives.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Prepare operational reports and present performance updates to senior leadership.

What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in food manufacturing.
  • At least 3 years of leadership or plant management experience.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on facility's needs (including 6 days per week if needed), and be on site in the case of emergencies
  • Team player who has a positive attitude and is solution oriented, while always selflessly putting your people and their well being ahead of your own
  • Constant motor and a serious sense of urgency, particularly when meeting deadlines for servicing our stores
  • Ability to multi-task, stay focused, and excel in a fast paced high stress environment
  • Open mind to learning Simply Salad specific systems and procedures despite prior experience 
  • Passion for good practices that maintain food freshness and a clean and sanitary kitchen environment
  • Passion for making healthy food more convenient and accessible to everyone            Previous restaurant experience required; management experience preferred
  • Successful completion of corporate training program required
  • Valid Food Manager Certification for their Home Store’s jurisdiction
  • Valid Drivers License and a clean driving record
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP, GMP, sanitation, and quality systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with automated food processing equipment.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) 
  • Willing to temporarily work in Van Nuys for 6 to 12 months before the company secures a new facility in the Southgate area.
