Job description

Production Engineer – Motor Manufacturing

Location: Chaska, MN (On-site)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $87,500 – $115,000/year + quarterly bonus

Our client is a leading aerospace and defense manufacturer specializing in electric motor production. They're hiring a Production Engineer to own the technical management, maintenance, and continuous improvement of motor production processes — from tooling and fixture design through process control and yield improvement.

This role is hands-on by nature — the ideal candidate takes pride in the products they help build, enjoys teaching others how the work should be done, and understands how their process decisions ripple into the company's broader goals.

What You'll Do
  • Define, develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing methods, equipment, and processes to ensure products meet all internal and external requirements
  • Create tooling, fixturing, and detailed assembly/test processes for new and existing motor products
  • Build and maintain FMEA, Control Plans, and other process control documentation
  • Identify and act on opportunities to reduce material and labor costs
  • Design processes and tooling with automation potential in mind
  • Investigate, assess, and resolve production issues; lead root cause investigations and troubleshooting
  • Support introduction of new products and processes into production
  • Manage procurement of tooling, fixtures, and equipment
  • Create and refine manufacturing documentation (operation sheets, routers, setup/tooling sheets)
  • Generate accurate cost/cycle-time/material estimates using cost-effective manufacturing methods
  • Analyze equipment layout, workflow, and assembly methods to maximize efficiency
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles across design, material selection, facility layout, and DFM
  • Develop and maintain performance metrics to hit manufacturing objectives
  • Serve as subject matter expert on ERP and engineering systems
  • Train and mentor team members in assigned process areas
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of experience manufacturing electric motors or similar electromechanical assemblies
  • Working knowledge of electric motor components, equipment, and manufacturing/test techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels, suppliers, and customers
  • Computer literacy with relevant engineering/manufacturing systems
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (ITAR/export control requirement)
Nice to Have
  • Experience with molding techniques, equipment, and processes
  • Experience generating procedures from aerospace or industry specifications
  • Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma background
Benefits

Competitive salary plus quarterly bonus, medical/dental/vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) with company match, generous tuition assistance, paid vacation/sick/personal time, paid holidays, and flexible/compressed work week options.

Equal Opportunity Employer – M/F/IWD/Veterans. Veterans encouraged to apply.
