Job description

We are looking for a talented Product Validation Engineering Technician to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Inc. facility in Jamestown, NY.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: 

  • Driving crossfunctional alignment by engaging with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and other partners to clarify requirements and resolve questions early while working through projects.
  • Improving engineering throughput by processing work requests efficiently and ensuring teams receive complete, highquality results the first time.
  • Supporting continuous quality improvement by participating in quality projects and occasionally offering feedback on continuous improvement ideas. 
  • Enhancing product reliability and performance by actively participating in all on-the-job trainings with co-workers and willingly taking on additional training opportunities with others.

Additional Information:

Product Validation Engineering Technicians support or lead the development and modifications for Cummins engine components/subsystems to ensure the continual improvement of engine reliability and durability for specific customer needs.

Daily work and projects can expose Technicians to all aspects of the business including Design, Testing, Manufacturing, Assembly, Marketing, Purchasing, Quality and Service.

This role will be exposed to a variety of work including product design, fixture design, Engineering testing (including fuji tests, torque to fail, DOE's, etc.), running VPCRs, component photo documentation, Implementation support and cross functional discussions (plant and corporate based).

Mid-level computer skills are necessary (use of Microsoft applications, including Office, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)

Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate's qualifications and experience, where appropriate.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems so you can design concepts and support requests that are innovative, robust, and aligned with customer and lifecycle requirements.
  • Skill in producing complete, accurate results-a wide variety of requests that can include fixture design, engine teardowns and rebuilds, FUJI testing, Torque to Fail testing, part sectioning or documentation, DOE, material logistics within the plant to support requests, etc.
  • Attention to detail in tracking and processing work requests, ensuring requests are documented, communicated, and implemented correctly.
  • Clear, audienceaware communication skills to convey technical information effectively to engineers, manufacturing teams, suppliers, and reviewers through verbal discussions and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Tolerance of ambiguityto support constantly-changing priorities to support both current product and new engine platform requests

Education/Experience:

High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required.
Regionally applicable certification or two year Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.
