Job description

We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Product Testing Technician within our product development team to help support our bedding  business.  Did you know we have been revolutionizing the sleep industry since 1883?  That's right!  In fact, we hold the original patent on a spiral steel coil bed spring, filed way back in 1885.  Since then, we have been an industry leader in guaranteeing you get the best sleep possible.  If you join our team, your work will ensure people across the world have a little more comfort in their lives.

As a Product Testing Technician you will have the opportunity to execute product testing, part inspections, and create documentation for our Consumer Products Group.  Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by ensuring that our products meet our stringent product quality and durability requirements..  The team you will be working with is innovative and eager to develop exciting new technologies, and value helping our customers improve their health through quality sleep technologies, and values challenging work and diversity of thought. 

So, what will you be doing as a Product Testing Technician?

  • Set up & execute various testing procedures
  • Measure a wide variety of metal, wood, & plastic adjustable bed components
  • Accumulate, record, and report test data
  • Assist project engineers with testing of complete prototypes and/or individual components
  • Communicate regularly with Product Development Manager, Sales Program Managers, and the Compliance Coordinator regarding testing status and results

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Skilled use of calipers, measuring tape, and other measuring devices
  • Comfortable using variety of hand & power tools
  • Ability to lift and move 50+ pounds on a frequent basis
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • The "YES!" attitude when assigned additional duties by manager

Things we consider a plus:

  • Quality Assurance background
  • Experience with Zoho, a web-based CRM and Project Management tool
  • Functional experience in a shop environment
