Job description

Position Summary

The Inventory Analyst is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy by analyzing inventory trends, investigating discrepancies, and identifying root causes of inventory adjustments. This position will work closely with Accounting/Cost Accounting, Purchasing, Production Control/Production, and Engineering to identify issues, improve accuracy, and prevent recurring problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor inventory levels, transactions, quantity adjustments, and cost trends for discrepancies and unusual activity.
  • Work closely with Accounting and Cost Accounting to analyze inventory costs, variances, and trends.
  • Process approved inventory adjustments and document the reason for each adjustment.
  • Investigate recurring adjustments and determine the root cause.
  • Work with Engineering to identify incorrect BOMs, routings, or material requirements that impact inventory and product costs.
  • Assist with analyzing labor trends and labor costs when requested by Accounting or Management.
  • Follow up with Engineering and other departments to ensure identified issues are corrected.
  • Analyze inventory and cost data and provide reports on adjustments, discrepancies, trends, and variances.
  • Support cycle counts and physical inventory activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, cost accuracy, and reduce unnecessary adjustments.

Qualifications

  • Manufacturing, inventory control, accounting, or cost accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong Excel and ERP system experience; Epicor/Kinetic preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively with Accounting, Purchasing, Production Control/Production, and Engineering.
