About the Role:

As a Principal Engineer, Security Logging & Detection, you will serve as the technical leader responsible for the engineering, reliability, and evolution of Gen's security logging and telemetry platforms. These foundational services power threat detection, security investigations, incident response, compliance, and security analytics across our global environment.

In this highly collaborative role, you will work closely with Security Operations, Incident Response, Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, and Product Engineering teams to design resilient, scalable, and secure telemetry solutions. You'll drive technical strategy, champion engineering excellence, and continuously improve the quality, availability, and operational effectiveness of security data across Gen.

In This Role, You Will:
  • Serve as the technical owner and architectural leader for Security Logging & Detection capabilities.

  • Design, build, and continuously improve logging pipelines and telemetry services across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.

  • Own the collection, parsing, normalization, enrichment, routing, retention, and access patterns for security telemetry.

  • Ensure the reliability, integrity, and availability of log data supporting threat detection, investigations, incident response, compliance, and security monitoring.

  • Drive automation and engineering best practices to improve scalability, consistency, operational efficiency, and platform reliability.

  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI-enabled technologies to improve security engineering workflows, telemetry analysis, and reporting.

  • Partner with Security Operations, Incident Response, Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, and software engineering teams to improve telemetry coverage and detection capabilities.

  • Define technical standards, documentation, and operational processes that improve platform resilience, maintainability, and long-term sustainability.

  • Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across multiple initiatives and cross-functional teams.

About You:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Extensive experience in Security Engineering, Platform Engineering, Logging, Observability, Detection Engineering, or closely related disciplines.

  • Strong understanding of security logging architectures and telemetry pipelines, including data collection, transport, normalization, enrichment, storage, retention, and access patterns.

  • Experience building, operating, and scaling distributed systems or enterprise data pipelines.

  • Experience working closely with Security Operations, Threat Detection, Incident Response, or Security Analytics teams.

  • Strong technical leadership with the ability to influence architecture and engineering decisions across multiple teams.

  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to Have:
  • Experience with AI-enabled tools that improve engineering productivity, security analysis, reporting, or workflow automation.

  • Experience with large-scale cloud-native infrastructure and observability platforms.

  • Professional certifications in Security, Cloud, or Software Engineering.
