Hackbarth Delivery Service is a single source-solution for transportation and logistics needs. We are dedicated to delivering exceptional final mile deliveries to our clients. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic team.
Job Summary
The Risk Management Coordinator 1 position will provide support, training, and development for all areas of the Hackbarth Delivery Service (HDS) Risk Management program. The areas of responsibilities for the HDS risk management program include safety, security, loss prevention, claims administration and DOT/fleet services. Under general direction, performs advanced professional work in the development and implementation of a comprehensive safety program to eliminate, reduce, or otherwise mitigate Hackbarth Delivery Service's exposure to loss resulting from occupational injuries/illnesses, vehicle accidents, third party liability claims, and property loss within the Hackbarth Delivery Service's departments. This position requires someone that has a passion to continually learn about each area of the risk management program and how to improve its integration throughout HDS operations. This position will report to the corporate risk manager. The person in this position should demonstrate a desire to promote safety both personally and in all areas of the HDS organization. Proficiency in Office 365 is required along with the capability of learning new technological systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitor, interpret and act upon safety data collected from terminal safety assessments, safety dashboard, accident/injury log, safety compliance log, FMCSA portal, and other appropriate sources.
  • Perform terminal safety assessments including communication to terminal leadership, follow up and finalized reporting.
  • Obtain and maintain Smith System Driver Trainer status and certify both employee and IC drivers as needed, including refresher courses.
  • Monitor each terminal's Smith System compliance.
  • Work with HR and the corporate risk manager to ensure companywide OSHA compliance.
  • Determine field training needs and recommend solutions.
  • Conduct field training exercises, e.g., pre-trip/post-trip inspections, safe lifting, forklift safety, OSHA requirements, straight truck backing.
  • Develop and conduct Job Safety Analysis.
  • Become proficient in DOT compliance and use that knowledge to monitor and train terminal personnel in compliance.
  • Execute, and understand the role of Samsara Program Coordinator.
    • Know all features of the program, especially coaching effectiveness, and coaching structure.
    • Understand Samsara reports and how to use them.
    • Assist terminal personnel with learning the program and implementing it to its full potential.

    • Evaluate coaching effectiveness and use this information to train coaches and drivers in the field.
  • Understand and apply the Samsara ELD system.
    • Know all features of the program and how they relate to DOT compliance.
    • Determine logging/compliance errors and recommend solutions and training path.
    • Understand relevant reports and how to use them.
    • Assist terminal personnel with learning the program and implementing it to its full potential.
  • Coordinate with terminals on DOT/FMCSA logging issues, hours of service violations and other compliance issues.
  • Assist the corporate risk manager with development and promotion of companywide safety emphases. Recommend areas of focus based on accident analysis, safety assessments and other safety observations.
  • Evaluate driver behavior based on Samsara, inspections, assessments, audits, violations. Recommend, perform and track remedial training.
  • Help coordinate the distribution of safety literature and equipment to terminals.
  • Assist the learning and development (L&D) manager with the training.
  • Attend the bi-weekly safety call, claims call, manager's call and any other unscheduled conference calls.
  • Assist terminals with troubleshooting malfunctions and deficiencies within the CCTV surveillance systems, access control systems, intrusion alarm systems and fire protection systems.
  • Coordinate function tests, service calls, repairs and installations ofCCTV surveillance systems, access control systems, intrusion alarm systems and fire protection systems at terminals.
  • Identify security deficiencies at terminals and outline a corrective action plan with the terminal manager to address the deficiencies.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall company operations. This may include, but not be limited to, assisting terminals during sorts, delivering product to customers and other operational tasks that may arise.
  • Frequent travel is required
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field (Safety, Security, Logistics, Business, etc.) is preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Safety, Security/Loss Prevention, Claims Administration or Logistics and Transportation Management.
  • Knowledge and understanding of OSHA regulations, FMCSA/DOT regulations and local, state and federal laws and regulations, applicable to company services.
  • Understanding of the insurance claims process and ability to coordinate with internal and external insurance agents and brokers.
  • Knowledge and understanding of various investigative techniques and root cause analysis methods.
  • Knowledge of transportation/courier operations.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with enterprise software system
  • Highly organized, detail oriented
  • Access to reliable transportation. If driving an automobile while on company business, must possess a valid driver's license in state of residence and auto insurance. Must be able to pass a background check, MVR, and drug screen
