Key responsibilities

  • Own the vision, architecture, and execution of transforming PayJoy's Apps into a destination for customers.

  • Define and drive the multi-year product strategy for PayJoy's App platform, including designing personalized cross-sell capabilities and exploring platform extensions beyond loan servicing.

Job description

About PayJoy

PayJoy, a Public Benefit Corporation, is a mission-first credit provider dedicated to helping under-served customers in emerging markets to achieve financial stability and success.  Our patented technology for secured credit provides an on-ramp for new customers to enter the credit system.  Through PayJoy’s point-of-sale financing and card offerings, customers gain access to a modern quality of life.  PayJoy’s credit also allows our customers to seize opportunities as micro-entrepreneurs, and acts as insurance for tough times. Through our cutting-edge machine learning, data science, and anti-fraud AI, we have served over 18 million customers as of 2025 while achieving solid profitability for sustainable growth.

This role

As Principal Product Manager, Mobile, you will own the vision, architecture, and execution of transforming PayJoy’s Apps into a destination for our customers.

This is a senior Individual Contributor role reporting to the SVP of Product Management, you'll work directly with Engineering leadership and the executive team to shape PayJoy's next chapter.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Platform vision & strategy

  • Define and drive the multi-year product strategy for PayJoy's App platform.

  • Capitalize on active user traffic by designing personalized cross-sell capabilities

  • Identify opportunities to extend the platform beyond loan servicing — including e-commerce, rewards and benefits ecosystems, and engagement tools.

  • Develop the strategy for embedding financial education into the app, appropriate for a low financial literacy customer base.

Execution & delivery

  • Own end-to-end product delivery: from discovery and prioritization through development, launch, and post-launch iteration across all app surfaces.

  • Define platform-level standards for navigation, architecture, performance, and UX consistency across all apps.

  • Establish country specific localization standards to ensure regulatory compliance across PayJoy global markets

  • Drive PayJoy's app store presence — owning store optimization, ratings management, and release strategy on Google Play and App Stores.

Cross-functional leadership

  • Partner deeply with Engineering leadership to align on architecture decisions, build out native mobile best practices, and scale platform capacity.

  • Own key business KPIs such as cross sell and reduced CX contacts per active user

  • Ensure platform investments accelerate core revenue to the business.

  • Influence senior stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Design, Data, and Operations to align on platform priorities and trade-offs.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Required

  • 8+ years of product management experience, with at least 5 years in a senior or staff-level role

  • Demonstrated experience building and scaling consumer mobile apps — ideally at a company that's gone through a platform inflection point.

  • Deep expertise in Android and/or iOS product development: navigation patterns, mobile architecture, performance, and app store operations.

  • Strong background in fintech, consumer financial services, or a similarly regulated, data-intensive domain.

  • Proven ability to translate ambiguous strategic goals into clear roadmaps, sharp prioritization decisions, and measurable outcomes.

  • Demonstrated capability to define instrumentation events, execute phased rollouts, and measure metrics

  • Exceptional cross-functional influencer across engineering, design, data, risk, and operations — without relying on formal authority.

  • Fluency in English, written and spoken.

Nice to have

  • Experience with multi-app or platform-level product architecture — particularly secured/unsecured or credit lifecycle product models.

  • Background in emerging markets, LATAM, or building products for underbanked consumer segments.

  • Hands-on experience with app store optimization, growth loops, or engagement and retention product mechanics.

  • SQL fluency or equivalent ability to self-serve product insights from data.

  • Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese.

WHY THIS ROLE, WHY NOW

You'll have genuine ownership, executive partnership, and the opportunity to shape a platform that millions of people rely on for their financial lives. If you've built great consumer apps before and want to apply that craft where it really matters, this is that role.
