Job description

The position is based at apt Holding GmbH in Monheim am Rhein and reports directly to the Chief Information Officer of apt Group. The Manager Digital Manufacturing drives the digital transformation of manufacturing across all production sites by developing standards, implementing digital systems, and leading projects that improve productivity, quality, transparency, and efficiency.

Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, IT, and external partners, the role ensures the successful implementation and continuous improvement of ERP, MES, SCADA, Industrial IoT, and related digital technologies.

Digital Manufacturing Strategy
  • Develop and implement the manufacturing digitalization roadmap in line with corporate strategy.
  • Define group-wide standards for digital manufacturing technologies.
  • Identify and implement digital solutions to improve productivity, quality, automation, and energy efficiency.
  • Evaluate new technologies and promote continuous improvement across manufacturing.
Industrial IT / OT Infrastructure
  • Develop standardized Industrial IT and OT architectures for production environments.
  • Define requirements for networks, machine connectivity, servers, and edge environments with Corporate IT.
  • Coordinate production-related IT infrastructure projects and digital asset management.
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity and governance requirements.
Systems Integration
  • Lead integration of ERP, MES, SCADA, PLCs, machine interfaces, and production systems.
  • Define interfaces, data flows, and master data concepts.
  • Ensure reliable manufacturing data and support ERP implementation projects.
Manufacturing Process Improvement
  • Analyze processes and data to identify optimization potential.
  • Develop automation and digitalization concepts for production sites.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing, OEE improvement, predictive maintenance, and quality control through digital solutions.
  • Standardize processes and best practices across all locations.
Project & Program Management
  • Lead digital transformation projects from concept to implementation.
  • Manage scope, budget, timeline, risks, and stakeholder communication.
  • Coordinate internal functions and external suppliers to ensure successful delivery.
Governance, Documentation & Standards
  • Develop standards, specifications, and digital manufacturing guidelines.
  • Maintain system documentation and operational procedures.
  • Support training, knowledge transfer, and governance for digital assets.
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Provide technical leadership in cross‑functional project teams.
  • Coordinate internal specialists and external service providers.
  • Build strong partnerships with production, engineering, IT, and suppliers.
Your qualifications
  • Degree in automation technology, mechanical engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or comparable qualification.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in industrial automation, process control, or digital manufacturing projects.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC, SCADA, MES/ERP interfaces, industrial networks, and IT/OT infrastructure.
  • Experience in multi‑site change management and cross‑functional project leadership.
  • Willingness to travel across Europe.
  • Fluent English and German, strong communication skills, and customer orientation.
