Who We Are

SmartRent (NYSE: SMRT) is revolutionizing how people live and work with the industry's only end-to-end platform designed for the rental housing industry. By uniting purpose-built software, integrated hardware and full implementation and support in one ecosystem, we help owners and operators simplify operations, cut costs and deliver exceptional resident experiences. Job Description

As a Group Product Manager, Data & Analytics, you will define and execute the strategic vision for SmartRent's enterprise data, reporting, and intelligence products. You will lead customer research, synthesize insights, and translate complex data capabilities into actionable product strategies, intuitive analytics tools, and machine learning models. This highly cross-functional role requires strong leadership, deep data fluency, and the ability to bridge the gap between business leaders, data engineers, data scientists, and end users to deliver market-leading, data-driven solutions.

(Prefer candidate in AZ to come to our HQ, but open to candidates in other US states)

Responsibilities

  • Define and communicate the strategic vision and roadmap for SmartRent's enterprise data platform, reporting suites, and AI/ML initiatives.
  • Lead customer and market research, transforming insights into actionable requirements and innovative product features.
  • Partner with internal (Revenue, Operations, Finance, IT) and external (customers, partners) stakeholders to create the strategic roadmap for the data and analytics practice
  • Partner closely with Data Science, ML Engineering, Data Engineering, and Design to turn raw telemetry, IoT, Operations and property data into predictive models, user-facing analytics, and actionable business intelligence.
  • Lead qualitative and quantitative research with internal teams, property managers, and owners to understand their reporting, data integration, and analytical workflow needs.
  • Translate stakeholder needs into clear technical requirements, PRDs, and data specifications (data models, pipelines, API integrations, and metric definitions).
  • Balance timing, cost, features, and performance to deliver high-impact products on schedule and within budget.
  • Measure product success using data-driven methods, establish core telemetry metrics, and continuously optimize data product adoption and performance.
  • Manage escalations and influence stakeholders across the organization to resolve issues and drive consensus.
  • Mentor and inspire cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of innovation, feedback, and excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and operational standards, embedding secure-by-design practices into product workflows.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, KPIs, and reporting mechanisms to track product performance and inform decision-making.
  • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of product managers, building a data-informed product culture across the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Economics, Computer Science, Business or related technical degree and a minimum of 7 years of experience in product management.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing data products, analytics platforms, data infrastructure, or machine learning solutions (preferably within PropTech, SaaS, or IoT ecosystems).
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 2-5 years of people management experience and the proven ability to build and grow high-performing teams
  • Proven experience collaborating directly with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and ML teams to ship data-driven features or predictive models. (Does not require hands-on coding/data science execution, but requires strong technical comprehension).
  • Demonstrated capabilities executing end-to-end quantitative and qualitative customer research and effectively identifying and interpreting key findings
  • Solid understanding of data pipelines, ETL processes, data architecture concepts, and how ML models are trained and deployed to production.
  • Highly analytical and diligent personality with ability to constantly solve problems and quickly plan out new features with meticulous attention to detail
  • Experience defining a product roadmap and prioritizing features based on end user needs.
  • Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, Figma, Sketch, Amplitude, Gitlab, Github, Prototyping or other similar tools.
  • Good understanding of LLMs, MCP, and GenAI to help drive product differentiation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in querying databases (SQL) and evaluating model performance metrics (precision, recall, accuracy) to validate product requirements.
  • Experience with cross-functional teams (engineering, design, marketing).
  • Experience building external-facing analytics/dashboards for enterprise SaaS customers or property operators.
  • Experience in proptech, multifamily, consumer IoT or similar SaaS companies.
  • Ability to analyze user data and feedback to inform product decisions.
  • Background in embedded analytics, IoT sensor data platforms, or algorithmic decision engines.
  • Familiarity with agile and scrum practices.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodology and experience working with engineering teams.
  • Proficient with Jira, Confluence, Figma, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with modern data stack architectures (Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, etc.) and API integrations.

Salary range: $155,000.00 - $186,267 annually. Actual compensation will depend on experience, skills, and internal equity. This role may also be eligible for bonus, commission, or other variable compensation.
