As a part of CoreAI at Microsoft, we are the Cognitive Services Speech team-dedicated to seamlessly integrating Speech AI into everyday experiences and we are hiring for a Principal Product Manager - Azure Speech (CoreAI) to join our cutting-edge charter. Our work spans a diverse set of cutting-edge technologies, including speech recognition, speech and video translation, text-to-speech (TTS), TTS avatars, and the Voice Live API for building voice agents. These capabilities power a broad portfolio of first- and third-party products-from agentic applications and web services to SaaS solutions like Office, Teams, and Dynamics, as well as mobile and PC software, Azure-connected devices, IoT, and ambient computing.

Responsibilities
We're looking for a Principal Product Manager - Azure Speech (CoreAI) to join our Cognitive Services Speech team. In this role, you will:
  • Define and drive product vision and strategy across a full stack of collaborators-from customers to engineers and researchers.
  • Partner closely with engineering to prioritize the roadmap, deliver high-impact features, and solve complex problems with clarity and creativity.
  • Translate customer insights and strategic goals into actionable plans that guide engineering execution and product iteration.
  • Champion product quality and AI excellence, ensuring our services are responsible, reliable, and delightful to use.
  • Keep stakeholders aligned and informed, fostering confidence and clarity across internal teams and leadership.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in product or program management (or equivalent), with a track record of delivering impactful products.
  • Proven experience managing the full product lifecycle-from concept and design through launch and iteration.
  • Experience or deep interest in Speech, LLM/SLM or Machine Learning technologies.
  • Cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to influence across engineering, research, and business teams.
  • High tolerance for ambiguity and a bias for action in dynamic environments.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a knack for storytelling and clear articulation of complex ideas.

Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
