About this Role
The Product Development Lab Technician III will have complete responsibility from start to finish for coordinating customer specialty testing for our larger customers. These requests involve setup, performing the testing, evaluating/summarizing data and communicating results directly to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.) for test reports and data presentation.
  • Prepare and fulfill various samples as required for testing and by Product Development.
  • Expedite work-based requests with short lead times.
  • Prepare various reports as requested.
  • Be hands on and familiar with product component drawings as related to pump testing & evaluation.
  • Able to work independently and manage own time deadlines and priorities.
  • Utilize Laboratory Test Equipment for the evaluation of Silgan Dispensing products.
  • Follow testing protocols as outlined by either Silgan Dispensing and/or the customer.
  • Responsible for the acquisition of test materials from various sources, including:
    • Glass Manufacturers.
    • Cap manufacturers.
    • Fragrance Suppliers.
    • Customer Laboratories.
  • Speaking directly to customers with regards to testing requirements, glass/bulk requests and managing timing expectations.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Min of High school diploma or GED required
  • 2 to 5 years' experience in the product testing industry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Familiarity with customer-based systems/expectations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, SAP, etc.
  • Hands-on, proactive, and demonstrated ability to work well with others in a team environment.
  • Time management and organizational skills are essential.
  • Should be familiar with SAP as currently used at Silgan Dispensing

Physical Demands of Job:
This position requires the constant use of hands, fingers, and hand eye coordination. This position also requires frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing, and occasional turning, twisting, bending at waist, crouching and reaching with hands and arms. Incumbent must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 35 pounds. Good close and peripheral vision, good depth perception and ability to adjust focus are required.
