Job description

The Cardiac Cath Lab Manager plays a vital role in providing leadership and strategic direction for the development and operations of the AHH Cardiac Cath Labs. This position requires a collaborative approach, working closely with the Nurse Management Team and various disciplines within the healthcare organization. Reporting to the Director of Cardiovascular Services, the Cardiac Cath Lab Manager is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the Cath Labs while also helping to develop and implement policies, procedures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies.

Patient Care:

1. Documents findings and communicates all pertinent information to interdisciplinary team members as appropriate.

2. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in the development, evaluation, and revision of the plan of care as appropriate to meet the patient’s needs and goals.

3. Available to assist with direct patient care and ensures the provision of a safe and comforting environment resulting in a high level of patient satisfaction.

4. Assists healthcare team members in the understanding of hospital policies and procedures.

5. Assists in providing education to patients/families/significant other and to staff, incorporating age-specific criteria and assessment of readiness to learn.

6. Ensures patient confidentiality.

7. Ensures compliance with utilization of standard precautions.

8. Maintains all required documentation.

9. Facilitates discharge plan in collaboration with interdisciplinary team.

10. Demonstrates knowledge and ability to use necessary patient care equipment.

11. Coordinates response of the interdisciplinary team to emergency situations.

12. Assists the Vice President of Cardiovascular Services and Director of Cath Lab by responding to and resolving patient complaints to the best of his/her ability.

13. Ensures quality patient care through appropriate staff/patient assignments.

14. Performs Point of Care procedures in a timely manner according to established policy and procedure.

15. Documents required information and complies with all Point of Care quality control standards.

Managerial Tasks:

1. Assists in the overall operation of the hospital through active participation in projects aimed at achieving the hospital’s mission and incorporates the values of the hospital in day-to-day activities.

2.  Assists in the selection of equipment, supplies and goods with goals of quality and cost efficiency.

3. Communicates with staff and physicians on administrative issues and follows-up to bring closure to such issues.

4. Assumes a leadership role in the maintenance of the patient-focused care delivery systems.

5. Assists in the development and education of staff in collaboration with the the Vice President of Cardiovascular Services and Clinical Educator

6. Responds to issues of harassment and discrimination per company policy.

7. Completes employee performance evaluations and skills competencies in a timely manner per company policy.

8. Investigates work related issues and assists staff in problem solving and/or plans of action to promote patient safety and a healthy work environment.

9. Responsible for generation and maintenance of daily staff assignments to coordinate unit operations.

10. Responsible for communication of pertinent information to staff on daily basis.

11. Assists the Vice President of Cardiovascular Services and Director of Cath Lab in facilitation of interview and selection of potential candidates, mentoring, and discipline according to Corrective Action policy and procedure.

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing or radiology program required.
  • Licensure/Certification: Registered Nurse with current state licensure or licensure from a state within the Nursing Compact required. Current Arkansas Department of Health Radiologic Technologist license and current American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) certification required. Registered Cardiovascular Technologist (RCVT) certification preferred. BLS and ACLS certification required prior to completion of orientation.   Certification is to be renewed by recommended renewal date on certification card. RCIS required for Cath/EP Lab Directors within six months of eligibility. Limited Specialty License required within two months of acquiring RCIS.
  • Experience: Minimum of three years continuous clinical experience in a critical/acute care setting required. Minimum of two years’ recent management experience preferred.
