Product Development Engineer
Full Time Professional
West Palm Beach, FL, US

Summary of Position Mission

The Product Development Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, testing, validation, and release to production of new products, product enhancements, and cost reduction initiatives. This role works closely with cross-functional teams from concept through production.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering development of new products and product improvements through the full product lifecycle.

• Assist in developing project schedules, tracking progress, and reporting status updates.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product requirements and specifications.

• Create and modify designs using 2D and 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).

• Generate engineering drawings, BOMs, test plans, and technical documentation.

• Assemble and evaluate prototypes for form, fit, and function.

• Conduct prototype testing and document results and design improvements.

• Apply GD&T principles to component and assembly design reviews.

• Support engineering validation testing and root cause investigations.

• Participate in technical design reviews, pilot builds, and production launch activities.

• Support evaluation of new technologies, materials, and manufacturing methods.

• Identify technical risks and contribute to mitigation planning.

• Support ISO, safety, and company compliance requirements.

• Periodic travel to support project and business needs.

• Other duties will be assigned as required.


Qualifications & Knowledge Required

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. These requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline required.

• Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in product development and/or mechanical design, in a manufacturing environment.

• Proficiency in CAD design software (SolidWorks preferred).

• Working knowledge of GD&T (ANSI Y14.5) and engineering drawing practices.

• Experience developing engineering documentation including drawings, BOMs, ECOs, and test reports.

• Experience with manufacturing processes such as machining, castings, injection molding, metal forming, additive manufacturing, or assembly processes.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Firearms product development experience is a plus.


Working Conditions

Work is normally performed in a climate-controlled office environment and throughout a heated manufacturing and warehouse facility. Exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is very limited. Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of light manufacturing, shipping and receiving, and normal office equipment (computers, telephones, etc.). No known environmental hazards are encountered in normal performance of job duties.
