Job description

The Database Developer Intern assists in the development, documentation and maintenance of basic to moderately complex application databases that support Credit Union banking and lending products. Under the direction of senior staff, this role begins to learn database design principles, SQL development, ETL processes, and reporting. Work is guided by senior developers using established guidelines and templates or specific direction for assigned tasks. The intern adheres to the team's development practices and follows all processes and procedures under close supervision.

What you will do here:

Support development, testing, implementation, documentation and maintenance of database objects (stored procedures, functions, inline SQL), basic ETL/SSIS processes and SSRS/Power BI reports across multiple products and organizational units, using guidelines, templates, and predetermined processes and procedures.

Troubleshoot and document systems, packages and research findings - escalate to senior team members as appropriate.

Migrate basic packages to Web Service and/or scheduling tools, assist with POCs for improved logging, AI for database development, integrating new tools, etc.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned..

What you will need:

High School Diploma or GED required.

Currently enrolled in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related degree program required.

0-1 year Basic exposure to SQL, database concepts, or data-related coursework required.

Any coursework or project experience with ETL concepts, SQL Server, or reporting tools preferred.

Working knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts and Web Services required.

Familiarity with database development tools (e.g., SSMS, Visual Studio) required.

Understanding of Agile/SDLC development processes preferred.

Ability to assist in testing across development phases required.

Analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills required.

Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills required.

Strong customer service skills and ability to work within a team required.
