MARS Solutions Group is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer located in Chelmsford, MA. Our client is a leading global brand for automatic doors industry leader looking for high-quality talent to make a difference. Job Summary

This Mechanical Design Engineer role is part of a cross-functional engineering team supporting products designed for industrial environments. The position focuses on the design and support of mechanical switches and sealed enclosures that house electronic, mechanical, and optical components. Products may include mechanical limit switches, optical and inductive sensors, and safety-related devices. The role reports to the Supervisor of Mechanical Continuation Engineering.

Responsibilities

Apply working knowledge of NEMA and Ingress Protection (IP) standards for industrial electromechanical products.

Design and model components using Pro/Engineer (Creo) 3D CAD software.

Provide hands-on technical expertise to resolve complex, cross-functional issues related to product performance, assembly, qualification, cost, and schedule.

Develop innovative, manufacturable designs suitable for high-volume production.

Define, execute, and oversee engineering tests to qualify product designs.

Support product documentation, sustaining engineering, and lifecycle maintenance activities.

Utilize Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies.

Collaborate with manufacturing on tooling strategies, including multi-action tooling for injection-molded and die-cast components.

Apply GD&T standards, modern machining processes, and rapid prototyping techniques to product development.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience.

Demonstrated depth of expertise within the mechanical engineering discipline, with the ability to independently resolve a wide range of technical challenges.

5+ years of experience developing products for industrial, consumer, or medical applications.

Experience designing mechanical or electromechanical components such as sensors, connectors, or safety devices.

Familiarity with UL, CSA, and IEC standards.

Proficiency with 3D solid modeling CAD tools and structural/thermal analysis software.

Strong understanding of thermoplastics, plastic part design, and materials science.

Experience with SAP and product lifecycle management systems.

Demonstrated ability to solve complex engineering problems creatively and effectively.

Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
