Job description

Req ID:506494

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Could you be the full-time Mechanical Integration Mechanical Design Engineer (MIT MDE) in Saint-Bruno de Montarville QC we're looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your mechanical engineering expertise in a cutting-edge field. You'll work alongside collaborative and detail-oriented teammates.

You'll play a key role in ensuring the seamless integration of mechanical subsystems, driving the progressive maturity of allocated volumes, and contributing to the design and development of innovative rail solutions. Day-to-day, you'll work closely with teams across the business (such as structural design engineers, routing/tubing experts, and project industrial representatives), manage CAD activities, and perform detailed 3D/2D designs, and much more.

You'll specifically take care of maintaining the Space Allocation Mock-up (SAM) and creating assembly drawings, but also ensure compliance of purchased parts with defined volumes.

We'll look to you for:

  • Managing CAD activities and maintaining the Space Allocation Mock-up (SAM) according to maturity rules

  • Creating annotated SAMs for supplier exchanges and verifying supplier feedback compliance

  • Performing detailed 3D and 2D design of in-house parts while considering manufacturability and maintainability

  • Generating assembly drawings and Bill of Materials (BOM) for industrialisation

  • Contributing to weight data provision and stack-up calculations

  • Collaborating with domain peers and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That's why we don't expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we've listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • 1-2 years' experience in Mechanical Engineering, preferably applied to railway products

  • Basic English skills (reading/writing and technical meetings)

  • Rigorous and detail-oriented mindset

  • Experience in 3D modelling, drawing creation, or design in heavy industry (desirable)

  • Strong understanding of manufacturability and maintainability principles

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams

Things you'll enjoy Join us on a life-long transformative journey - the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You'll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from boring daily routines

  • Work with new security standards for rail signalling

  • Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues

  • Contribute to innovative projects

  • Utilise our dynamic and inclusive working environment

  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries

  • Benefit from our investment in your development, through award-winning learning

  • Progress towards leadership or specialised technical roles

  • Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension)
