Job Description

The Mechanical Design Engineer designs and develops innovative products from concept through production, using CAD and 3D modeling tools to create high-quality, manufacturable solutions. This role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to optimize product functionality, usability, and market appeal, while ensuring designs meet performance, safety, and cost requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new product concepts, prototypes, and production-ready designs using CAD and 3D modeling software.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including research and development, manufacturing, and marketing, to optimize product functionality, usability, and market appeal.
  • Build, test, and refine prototypes to identify and resolve design or performance issues.
  • Evaluate materials and manufacturing processes to ensure product feasibility, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Stay current with emerging design trends, technologies, and manufacturing methods to drive innovation in new product development.
  • Ensure products comply with applicable industry regulations, safety standards, and customer requirements.
  • Participate in product planning and brainstorming sessions to define project requirements and design direction.
  • Contribute to and participate in design reviews to assess concepts, identify risks, and refine solutions.
  • Create detailed CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation to support manufacturing and quality processes.
  • Perform design analysis, simulations, and testing to validate product performance and reliability.
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to support production implementation and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Conduct troubleshooting, quality evaluations, and corrective actions during prototype and production phases.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation while tracking timelines, deliverables, and budgets to ensure projects stay on schedule and within scope.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of product design experience utilizing CAD software and 3D modeling tools.
  • 3+ years of experience designing and developing product prototypes using CAD and 3D modeling.
  • Proficiency in design software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD applications.
  • Strong understanding of the full product development lifecycle, from concept through production.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical design and product design in an engineering environment.
  • Ability to create detailed CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to perform design analysis, simulations, and testing to validate product performance.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with R&D, manufacturing, and marketing teams.
  • Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and mechanical engineering principles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with prototyping methods, including 3D printing, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with a variety of manufacturing processes and their constraints.
  • Knowledge of engineering analysis and testing methods is a plus.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $90000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
