About the Role

We are seeking a Product Data Engineer to own and evolve our product data ecosystem, with a focus on Salsify, system integrations, and data governance. This role is responsible for ensuring product data is accurate, scalable, and consistently delivered across internal systems and external channels.

This position will play a key role in a product data cleanup and re-architecture initiative, while also supporting ongoing operations and business needs. The ideal candidate brings an API-first mindset, experience with event-driven or automated pipelines, and a strong focus on data quality SLAs and KPIs.

 

What You’ll Do

Product Data Platform Ownership

Serve as the primary owner and administrator of the PIM platform (Salsify)

Design and manage product data models, attributes, hierarchies, and relationships

Build and maintain formulas, validation rules, and workflows to enforce business logic and data quality

Manage user roles, permissions, and platform governance

Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, including imports, exports, and publishing errors

 

Integrations & Automation

Own and manage integrations between Salsify and internal/external systems (e.g., Shopify and other platforms)

Design and support API-based data flows with an emphasis on scalability and reliability

Develop and maintain automation solutions using APIs and scripting (Python preferred)

Build and support event-driven or automated pipelines to reduce manual intervention

Monitor integration performance and proactively resolve failures

 

Product Data Evolution

Support and help lead a product data cleanup and re-architecture initiative

Identify gaps in current data models, workflows, and processes and implement improvements

Partner with cross-functional teams to define scalable data structures and standards

Improve system design to support long-term business growth

 

Channel Syndication

Manage and optimize product data syndication to eCommerce and retail channels

Ensure data meets channel-specific requirements and publishing standards

Troubleshoot syndication issues and improve publishing success rates

Support product launches and updates across channels

 

Data Governance & Quality

Establish and enforce data governance standards, naming conventions, and validation rules

Define and monitor data quality SLAs and KPIs (e.g., completeness, accuracy, timeliness)

Support or leverage data governance tools (e.g., OpenMetadata or similar platforms)

Partner with business teams to improve data quality and accountability

 

Reporting & Metrics

Develop and maintain reporting on data quality, system performance, and syndication outcomes

Build dashboards and metrics for stakeholders and leadership

Provide insights and recommendations to improve processes, data quality, and system performance

 

Operational Support

Support day-to-day system usage, enhancements, and issue resolution

Manage and prioritize incoming tickets and requests from the business

Ensure stability and reliability of product data operations

 

What You Bring

3+ years of experience in product data management, system administration, or PIM platforms

Experience owning or heavily supporting a PIM system (Salsify or similar)

Strong experience with REST APIs and JSON

Experience building workflows, automations, and data validation logic

Experience with eCommerce platforms (such as Shopify)

Familiarity with API-first design and automated or event-driven data pipelines

Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills

Ability to work cross-functionally with both technical and business stakeholders

 

Nice to Have

Experience with Python or similar scripting languages

Experience with ERP systems (such as Infor LN)

Experience with data governance tools (e.g., OpenMetadata, Collibra, Alation, or similar)

Experience building reporting and dashboards (BI tools or platform-native reporting)
