POSITION SUMMARY

Since Axiom Space is a very complex work environment, we are looking for a resilient, high-energy Supplier Procurement Quality Engineer that helps our suppliers be compliant with customer contractual and AS9100 requirements. Manage our approved supplier list and support supplier quality processes. This includes invoking supplier quality requirements, verification of purchased products, surveillance/assessments, non-conformance management, and continuous improvement initiatives. This individual will have a strong commitment to customer requirements, quality management system requirements and meeting our stakeholdersโ€™ needs with a passion for quality.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and apply supplier quality and supplier management processes in compliance with AS9100 standard and contractual requirements.
  • Development of our suppliers to meet contractual and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct supplier assessments/audits and support continuous improvements.
  • Conduct verification (inspection) of purchased product and surveillance of product and processes as needed. This may be completed on site at a supplier facility or at Axiom Space.
  • Develop and maintain records and performance of the Axiom Space external providers Key Performance Indicators.
  • Conduct initial qualification reports of external suppliers for the inclusion to the Approved Supplier List.
  • Manage the Approved Supplier List.
  • Establish and approve applicable quality clause flow down requirements for the procurement of Human Space Flight goods and services.
  • Develop working relationships with external providers to maintain a seamless supply chain of goods and services.
  • Support non-conformance management, part containment, supplier deliverables, supplier corrective actions and verification of purchased parts.
  • Develop supplier quality reports/presentations and perform other Safety and Mission Assurance (S&MA) tasks as necessary.
  • Maintain and improve the Axiom quality processes and procedures Implement and ensure adherence to the nonconformance system that ensures nonconformances are investigated, contained, trends are tracked, and issues resolved.
  • Develop supplier quality reports/presentations to S&MA and program leadership in alignment with our Quality Policy, QMS, and Quality Manual to support the objectives and goals of S&MA.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Communicating project progress, status, and potential issues to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Implementing and maintaining agile project management methodologies throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Perform additional job duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education & Experience Level III Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field (ABET-accredited preferred) required across all levels. 4-9 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Level IV Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Engineering, preferred for Levels II-V and strongly preferred for levels VI-VII 7-12 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Plus, whatever else is pertinent.
  • Level V Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Engineering, preferred for Levels II-V and strongly preferred for Levels VI-VII 10-16 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of AS 9100 Quality Management System.
  • Experience with AS9102, NADCAP, and PPAP is desired but not required.
  • Ability to plan, perform analysis, report results and mitigate risk regarding quality requirements, product & process assessments/audits and performance trends for products and services.
  • Experience with Customer and/or Supplier Contract/Purchase order review and flow down compliance.
  • Experience working with engineering drawings and industry specifications /standard requirements.
  • Experience with verification of purchased products and auditing.
  • Experience with developing procedures and work instructions.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to address project challenges. This includes RCCA, containment, preventative action, continuous improvement and statistical analysis.
  • ERP working knowledge.
  • Cost Point ERP knowledge desired but not required.
  • Demonstrated time management and organization skills to meet tight deadlines and quality objectives.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Track record of making things happen in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
  • Uses good judgement to problem-solve proactively, positively impacting hard challenges.
  • Demonstrated organization skills to meet tight deadlines with high-quality results.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Requirements

This position may require access to export controlled technical data or technology subject to NASA regulations, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). In accordance with U.S. export control laws, final candidates may be required to undergo additional export control screening to determine eligibility for access. Meeting these requirements is a condition of employment. Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet critical project milestones.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
