Job description

Amentum is seeking a dedicated, energetic, motivated Buyer 1 to help our Procurement supporting our Commercial Operations & Maintenance Business.

The Buyer 1 coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and advertising, for organization by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews requisition and negotiates within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
  • Obtains material from supplier at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need.
  • Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
  • Prepare orders and follows up on orders to expedited delivery and shipment.
  • Obtains certifications of delivery and conducts check against order.
  • Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid.
  • Develop and maintains necessary records and files for efficient operation.
  • Prepare purchase orders using MP2 5.0.
  • Maintain procurement records such as items or services purchased costs, delivery, product quality or performance.
  • Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
  • Approve invoices for payment.
  • Perform duties within 95% accuracy.
  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA) from four-year college university and/or equivalent experience;
  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience.
  • Must have computer skills, database knowledge, solid communication skills to communicate with Internal Customers and External Vendors.
  • Individual must be able to read analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Maximo, OnPoint, Costpoint and Microsoft Suite

Compensation Details:

$62000 - $65000
