Job description

Midjourney is an independent research lab exploring new mediums of thought and expanding the imaginative powers of the human species. We are a small self-funded team focused on design, human infrastructure, and AI.

The Procurement Associate is responsible for owning procurement and purchasing operations for the Hardware team end-to-end: from sourcing and vendor management through purchase order processing, invoice coordination, and administrative support. This role works closely with reports to the Manager of Finance & G&A Operations and works closely with the Hardware and Software teams. The Procurement Associate will also support the day-to-day administrative needs of the Hardware team, ensuring operations run smoothly as the team scales. The candidate must be self-motivated, highly organized, and capable of operating independently in a dynamic, fast-moving environment. This is a full-time, on-site position based in San Francisco, CA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage vendor relationships, including onboarding new suppliers and keeping vendor records current in Netsuite and Bill
  • Review and verify invoices against purchase orders and contracts prior to submission for approval
  • Track delivery timelines and proactively follow up with vendors to resolve delays or discrepancies
  • Own the end-to-end purchasing process for the Hardware team, including purchase order creation, tracking, and closure
  • Provide administrative support to the Hardware team, including scheduling, logistics coordination, and vendor communication
  • Coordinate with the Hardware team to anticipate procurement needs and prioritize purchasing requests
  • Assist with supplier evaluation; obtain and compare quotes for components, equipment, and services
  • Assist with inventory tracking and reconciliation of hardware components and equipment
  • Ensure all purchasing activity is properly documented and adheres to internal controls and financial policies
  • Assist with month-end close activities related to purchasing and accruals
  • Identify opportunities to improve procurement workflows and support the implementation of purchasing tools or processes

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain coordination, preferably in a hardware, consumer electronics, or technology environment
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and purchase orders end-to-end
  • Familiarity with ERP or procurement platforms (Netsuite, Bill, Ramp, or similar)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to build process where little exists
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and operations teams
  • Demonstrated experience working with and implementing AI tools into existing and new workflows
  • Experience with Slack or Discord a plus

Nice to Have

  • Background supporting a hardware or consumer electronics team
  • Experience in a startup or high-growth technology environment
  • Exposure to contract manufacturer or component supplier ecosystems

Compensation

  • Annual base salary of $105,000 – $130,000*
  • 100% of employee insurance premiums paid by Midjourney, plus supplemental benefits plans
  • 401(k) plan
  • Flexible time-off policy

*The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, certifications and licensure, location, and other business or organizational needs.
