Directs, plans, schedules and monitors the movement of materials through the production cycle to determine required materials purchases. Oversees the creation and maintenance of bills of material and parts/commodities numbers in supply chain management or other Enterprise wide systems. Ensures material standards are met and non-conformances or variances are approved and/or minimized. Monitors cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. Evaluates vendor reliability and develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive. See also, Purchasing / Procurement - Commodities (SC.PPCO) focus if responsible for purchasing materials based on quantities determined by materials planners.

Azenta Life Sciences is seeking a Procurement Manager to join our growing and dynamic organization. Reporting to the Divisional CFO for the Multiomics and Synthesis Solutions business known as GENEWIZ, this position will lead procurement for the Global Multiomics organization.
This role will lead the global Multiomics Procurement team and focus on developing, leading and executing on purchasing strategies, working across a portfolio of commodities and sites. This role will manage a global procurement team, driving strategy, supplier management, and process improvements across multiple sites and commodity groups. A strong background in procurement within a manufacturing or life sciences environment is required, along with a track record of cost savings, contract negotiation, and team leadership.
What You'll Do
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a global team of Buyers across multiple locations
  • Develop and execute supplier management strategies aligned with business objectives
  • Own the purchasing strategy, budgeting process, and process documentation
  • Optimize supplier base through strategic sourcing and supplier consolidation to drive cost savings and mitigate risk
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align procurement activities with business goals on margin, quality, and time-lines
  • Lead price and contract negotiations with key suppliers
  • Manage Quarterly Business Review (QBR) process with strategic suppliers
  • Represent the Supply Chain team in New Product Introduction (NPI) and Existing Product Development projects
  • Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks, communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Resolve demand and supply issues using data-driven approaches
  • Track, analyze, and report departmental performance metrics
  • Prepare and present operational and strategic reports to senior leadership
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives, including Kaizen events and Lean practices.
  • Oversee all people management activities: recruitment, onboarding, training & development, and performance management.

What you will bring
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, APICS certification (CPIM) preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of procurement within a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 2 years people management experience
  • A strong background within Purchasing with a proven track record in cost reduction, negotiation and supplier management is required; a proactive approach to problem solving as well as having the ability to convert strategy into action is required.
  • Experience with Lean / Continuous Improvement teams and activities
  • Expert capability in modern sourcing principles
  • Ability to analyze cost effectiveness and make sound commercial / business decisions and recommendations
  • Strong preference for a candidate with knowledge of Netsuite based planning system
  • Strong preference for a candidate with experience in Life Science Services industry
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions/ Schedule
  • Hybrid, 4 days in office in South Plainfield, NJ , 1 day remote.
  • Occasional travel may be required (not expected to be more than 10%) including to APAC region

United States Base Compensation: $106,000.00 - $132,000.00
The posted pay range for this position is an estimate based on current market data and internal pay structure.
