Procurement Analyst Associate information

What is a procurement analyst associate?

Procurement Analyst Associates are entry- to mid-level professionals who assist organizations in acquiring goods and services efficiently and cost-effectively. They analyze procurement data, monitor supplier performance, support contract negotiations, and help ensure compliance with company policies and regulations. Their role often involves working with various departments to identify purchasing needs, conducting market research, and preparing reports to inform strategic sourcing decisions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a procurement analyst associate?

To thrive as a Procurement Analyst Associate, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field. Familiarity with procurement software (such as SAP Ariba or Oracle Procurement) and proficiency in Excel are typically required, along with knowledge of relevant procurement processes and regulations. Effective communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills help you build relationships with vendors and support collaborative decision-making. These abilities ensure efficient purchasing operations, cost savings, and compliance with organizational policies.

What are some typical challenges a procurement analyst associate might face during supplier evaluation and how can they be managed?

Procurement Analyst Associates often encounter challenges such as incomplete supplier data, rapidly changing market prices, and varying quality standards during supplier evaluation. These issues can be managed by developing strong relationships with suppliers to encourage transparency, utilizing procurement software for accurate data analysis, and staying updated on industry trends. Regular collaboration with cross-functional teams like legal, finance, and operations is also crucial to ensure all evaluation criteria are met and risks are minimized.

Job description

About Canadian Strategic Missions Corp. (CSMC)

Canadian Strategic Missions Corporation is building the capabilities that will shape Canada's future in space, defence, and energy. We focus on developing dual use systems that address critical challenges here on Earth while enabling sustained human activity beyond it.

In a short time, CSMC has established real momentum. We have secured significant backing to advance next generation micro nuclear reactors in partnership with leading institutions, alongside expanding a portfolio of technologies designed for remote environments, national defence, and future space missions. These efforts reflect a broader ambition to deliver reliable power and critical infrastructure where it matters most.
Our work is grounded in close collaboration with government and guided by a clear sense of purpose: to build sovereign capability at a time when it has never been more important. We care deeply about execution, long term impact and earning the trust required to deliver systems that will service Canada and its allies for decades.

CSMC is a company for builders. We are a group of people drawn to hard problems, meaningful impact and the opportunity to shape systems that matter at a national and global scale. We are building a team that thrives in ambiguity, values execution, and is motivated by mission and impact.

About the Role

CSMC is building the technologies that will define Canada's future in energy, defence, and space. We are seeking a highcalibre Corporate Development Analyst with a background in management consulting, venture capital, private equity, investment banking, or toptier corporate strategy.

This role is for someone who can operate at the intersection of strategy, finance, technology, and nationalscale programs. You will build models, evaluate markets, shape investment theses, and support executivelevel decisionmaking across CSMC's nuclear, defence, and advanced energy initiatives.

This is a highimpact, analytically demanding role for someone who wants to work on missioncritical programs with national significance.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Analysis & Market Intelligence

  • Conduct deepdive market, competitive, and policy analyses across nuclear, defence, aerospace, and advanced energy sectors.
  • Develop strategic insights, investment theses, and scenario analyses to guide executive decisionmaking.
  • Track regulatory, funding, and procurement developments across federal and provincial programs.

Financial Modelling & Business Case Development

  • Build sophisticated financial models, including:
    • project economics
    • cost curves
    • sensitivity analyses
    • valuation models
    • scenariobased forecasting
  • Develop business cases for new technologies, partnerships, and market entry strategies.

Corporate Development & Strategic Projects

  • Support M&A assessments, partnership evaluations, and strategic investment opportunities.
  • Conduct due diligence on potential partners, suppliers, and technology collaborators.
  • Work crossfunctionally with engineering, program management, and leadership to align strategy with execution.

Executive & Investor Materials

  • Prepare boardlevel presentations, investor materials, and strategic briefing documents.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives for senior stakeholders.
  • Support capital planning, fundraising activities, and governmentfacing submissions.
Required Qualifications

MustHave

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • 2-5+ years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, corporate strategy, or corporate development.
  • Exceptional financial modelling skills - able to build models from scratch with minimal guidance.
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting executivelevel decisionmaking.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience in nuclear, energy, defence, aerospace, or advanced technology sectors.
  • Familiarity with federal funding programs, procurement pathways, or governmentfacing strategy.
  • Exposure to technology commercialization, IP strategy, or deeptech investment.
  • Experience evaluating earlystage technologies, markets, or partnerships.
  • Understanding of regulatory environments (CNSC, NRCan, DND/DRDC, ISED, etc.) is an asset.

Why Join CSMC

CSMC is building technologies that will shape Canada's future in energy, space, and national security. You'll join a team of engineers, scientists, and missiondriven builders who care deeply about solving hard problems that matter. We move quickly, support each other, and take pride in doing work that has real impact. Along the way, you'll have access to competitive compensation, benefits, and equity, and the chance to grow with a company that values ownership, curiosity, and technical excellence.

Employment Eligibility

CSMC works with highly sensitive nuclear, defence, and aerospace technologies, and all roles require eligibility for federal security screening and compliance with controlled goods and export regulations. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada, able to obtain and maintain Government of Canada security clearance, and eligible to meet foreign affiliation and export control requirements. These conditions are mandatory Bona Fide Occupational Requirements and reflect the need to securely develop and protect nationally significant capabilities.
