Job Description Summary:
The proctor is responsible for helping to ensure the integrity of student test environments by monitoring room conditions and test-taker behaviors. Proctors work closely with academic and administrative leaders to administer testing policies and procedures and related administrative actions, including as tracking attendance, timekeeping, distributing and collecting materials, and reporting incidents and violations.
NOTE: All candidates must participate in all required training and orientation activities and meetings as a condition of employment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful incumbent will perform the following duties, with or without reasonable accommodations:
  • Establish physical presence and leadership in assigned testing location(s); move around the testing space at regular intervals.
  • Maintain a professional, orderly, and comfortable testing environment for test-takers; conduct pre-, during, and post-administration inspection activities in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Manage behavioral and technical situations that arise within assigned testing space(s), including incident and violations reporting and documentation.
  • Record and document attendance, including lateness and no-shows; review test-taker credentials prior to exam administration.
  • Collaborate with administrators to monitor test administration compliance with established accommodation requirements for individuals or groups, as applicable.
  • Distribute and explain testing policies and procedures to test-takers; address questions and concerns from test-takers regarding such policies and procedures; report policy violations to appropriate academic or administrative staff.
  • Collaborate with academic or administrative staff to ensure that approved individual accommodations are in place for the duration of the testing period.
  • Monitor and communicate test and exam start and end times.
  • Work with department leaders to distribute and collect equipment and materials to support the effective administration of exams; report technical issues and assist with resolution, as appropriate.
  • Attend regular and ad hoc staff meetings.
  • Complete and participate in all required training events and activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Demonstrated ability to exert influence and authority among groups; ability to establish and maintain authoritative presence and effective relationships.
  • Strong communication skills, including verbal, written, and interpersonal, verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong documentation and record keeping skills.
  • Strong planning and organization skills.

Starting Hourly Pay: $20.00/hr
NOTE: Some PCOM staff and all PCOM active full- and part-time students are ineligible to serve as Proctors.
The referenced salary range is based on PCOM good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
