PRODUCTION OPERATOR- Adrian, MI

Pay Rate: $22.67 / hour

Shift: 3rd shift (11:00PM โ€“ 7:30AM) + Overtime as needed

JOB FUNCTION โ€“ REQUIREMENTS โ€“ SUCCESS FACTORS

The Production Operator physically manufactures automotive adhesives and sealants, enabling PPGโ€™s continued success in the automotive market.  The incumbent is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the facilityโ€™s manufacturing equipment and the quality of the product at every step of the manufacturing stage while meeting all safety requirements. 

Requires:  Successful completion of the employment selection process, and experience in a manufacturing environment.  Must be able to operate a variety of industrial production related equipment, possess good math skills and mechanical ability, be flexible and willing to rotate work assignments readily, and be capable of forklift operation certification. High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills are essential. Must also possess problem solving skills, be capable of making logical decisions, and be capable of working without direct supervision and be focused on details and specification tolerances.

Duties and Responsibilities:  Operators will be assigned to any of the four areas below.

-Preassembly

Responsible for the weighing of raw material components according to a specific formula on a batch ticket.  Raw materials must be retrieved from the storage area, hand weighed and then placed on a pallet after being clearly marked with the appropriate PPG Champ code.  Pallets will then be moved to a staging area for processing.

-Mixing

Tends various high viscosity mixers to produce various formulas at the Adrian site.  Ensures weigh out ingredients matches batch ticket and that raw materials have been weighed correctly.  Loads the raw material mixes into appropriate container and mixes per normal operating procedures or instructions on batch ticket.  Once mix has been completed, cleans mixers and states pre-mix for next operation.  Completes information on machine activity on log sheets.  Operator will also provide input to human-machine-interfaces to run automated processing equipment. 

-Batch Filling

Filling completed batches into various container sizes depending on customer requirements.  Operator will use both manual and automated dumping processes. Operator will ensure that batches are filled to the correct weight and all labeling & packaging is properly applied. 

Quality

Operators must participate in the PPG Quality Process. 

Safety

Works in a safe and effective manner to ensure personal safety and product quality.  Must be current on all aspects of safety as detailed in the SOPโ€™s. 

Production Operators are also required to perform a variety of other general tasks related to the production of Adrian materials. (ie., housekeeping, attend team meetings as directed by the Team Facilitator or Management and/or other duties as assigned.)

Contact with Others:

Job requires routine contact with others to give or get information (ie., Technical Personnel, Maintenance, Production Operators, Staff, Visitors).

Work Environment:

Works in manufacturing, warehouse and/or lab areas.  Incumbent will be required to lift and carry up to 55 lbs and move up to 320 lb drums with mechanical assistance.  Stair and ladder climbing, standing for long periods of time, stooping and pulling occurs.  Wearing approved safety equipment; including, safety glasses with side shields, steel- toed shoes, uniform, hard hat/bump cap, gloves, hearing protection and dust mask or respirator (when required) is a must.  The environment is dusty, and the operator may get wet when cleaning equipment.

Equipment Utilized:

Lift Truck, heavy duty industrial mixers, Scales, Hand Tools, Truck Dock Equipment, Safety Equipment, and other equipment as required for operating production.  Operator will also be required to wear all PPE for safety (hard hat, safety glasses, long sleeve uniform, & respirator (as needed)).
