Job description

Gracie’s is an award-winning fine-dining restaurant in the Providence Theater District, rooted in gracious hospitality, thoughtful cuisine, and meaningful guest connections. The Front Server supports the excellence, creativity, brand promise, and profitability of Gracie’s while serving as a warm, knowledgeable presence on the dining room floor.

This role can also be fast-tracked and has the potential to dive in deeper to beverage studies, execution and growth. The ideal candidate is a hospitality professional with a genuine zeal for wine, strong communication skills, and the ability to make fine dining feel approachable, memorable, and aligned with Gracie’s experience.

Gracie’s Ventures Will Provide:
  • Hands-on involvement with the leadership team and front- and back-of-house operations.

  • Support for continued wine education, certification growth, and professional development when aligned with performance and business needs.
Hiring Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years of hospitality experience, with a preference of at least 1 year in beverage or wine service.
  • Level 1 Sommelier certification, WSET equivalent, or comparable wine education preferred.
  • Current TIPS or ServSafe Alcohol certification, or willingness to complete before independently working service.
  • Associate degree in Beverage Management, Hospitality, Food Service, or a related field preferred, but not required, with equivalent experience.
  • Strong service presence, professional communication, and comfort educating both guests and teammates.
Key Responsibilities Include, but are Not Limited to:
  • Deliver a consistently high level of customer service to each guest.
  • Greet guests, explain menu options, and answer questions related to the beverage and culinary offerings.
  • Take food and drink orders from customers accurately.
  • Enter order information into the POS computer system.
  • Deliver and clear dishes to the guest.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction with regular dialogue and check-ins.
  • Collect payments from guests.
  • Clear, clean, and reset each table after the guest leaves in accordance with the Gracie’s SOP.
  • Present and explain tasting menu items and pairings to guests.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by identifying guests who have over-indulged and alerting the Shift Leader.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workspace, and uphold Gracie’s Ventures cleanliness standards, and RI Health Codes.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of both culinary and beverage menus, including allergy and ingredient information.
  • Maintain TIPS Certification
  • Participate in creative conversations for future improvements and goals in an open forum.

Front servers at Gracie's are required to maintain a detailed working knowledge of the menu, including ingredients, preparation methods, and allergen information. Front Servers, in particular, are also required to maintain a high level of knowledge of wines, including our by-the-glass selections, as well as pairing wines and bottles. Front servers should also have a solid understanding of what we offer on our bar menu.
Compensation:
This position is an hourly position, plus additional gratuity. Rate is based on experience, starting from $4/hr.+ Gratuity after basic training is completed at minimum wage. Our gratuity points system will be discussed during the interview process. *High Sommelier or Beverage Passion/Interest is a PLUS! Considerations will be made during the interview process, and what that compensation can potentially look like, after such growth.
