About the role: Our client is seeking a Plant Engineer to provide engineering support for capital project execution at the Fort St. Vrain Power Plant. This is a 1-year contract role with potential for extension. You will be a key technical resource supporting project design reviews, maintaining engineering design basis accountability, and providing technical oversight throughout the lifecycle of capital improvement projects.

The successful candidate will work closely with operations, project management teams, site personnel, and external engineering partners to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering standards. This role will be onsite in Platteville, CO.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering support for capital project execution activities at the Fort St. Vrain Power Plant.
  • Conduct technical design reviews and ensure compliance with plant engineering standards and design basis requirements.
  • Review and evaluate project documentation, engineering packages, technical inquiries, and proposed design changes.
  • Support project scoping, planning, and engineering development efforts.
  • Review and interpret Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Collaborate with project managers, operations teams, contractors, and external engineering firms throughout project lifecycles.
  • Provide technical guidance regarding mechanical systems, piping systems, valves, equipment specifications, and plant processes.
  • Support technical evaluation and oversight of combustion turbine-related projects.
  • Identify and resolve engineering issues while maintaining alignment with safety, operational, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as an independent contributor responsible for driving engineering reviews and project support activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline required).
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting power generation facilities, industrial facilities, plant engineering, or reliability engineering environments.
  • Strong experience conducting technical design reviews.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting P&IDs.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, piping systems, valve selection, and equipment specifications.
  • Experience supporting capital project execution and engineering project reviews.
