Covia is looking for a dynamic Plant Supervisor who will have a positive impact on the Operations team at its Troy Grove, IL location.  As a Plant Supervisor, you will report to the Operations Plant Manager and will directly supervise the production and shipping operations to ensure that output is maximized at the lowest cost while maintaining safety and quality requirements.

The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:

  • Accept personal responsibility for your own safety by working to maintain a safe work environment and evaluating all tasks utilizing the Covia SLAM (Stop, Look, Analyze, Manage) risk protocol. Report all near miss incidents, unsafe acts, or situations and injuries immediately.
  • Administer all facets of the safety and health policies while adhering to the SLAM risk method within the sphere of all tasks.
  • Advise the Plant Manager of potential problems that might affect the plant's ability to produce in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and weekly toolbox safety talks with shift employees.
  • Directly supervise production activities which include:
    • Receiving of Raw Materials via truck or rail
    • Raw Material and Product Flow within Plant
    • Air Classifying
    • Ball Mill Operations
    • Raw material and finished product quality sampling
    • Product storage
    • Maintenance
    • QC
  • Directly Supervisor Maintenance Activities which include:
    • Maintenance Planning
    • Spare Part Management
    • Purchasing and receiving
    • Equipment condition monitoring
    • Equipment replacement and/or servicing
    • Work Order Management

The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ maintenance supervisor experience is required.
  • The ideal candidate will be a leader with prior experience supervising in an industrial or mineral processing environment.
  • Exhibit team focus and the ability to achieve results through others.
  • Preference given to candidates with Ball Mill, air classifying or Maintenance experience.
  • Preference given to candidates that have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or technical field.
