A Day in the Life:
The Plant Mechanic is responsible for the mechanical maintenance of the grain elevator facility in Destrehan, LA, including diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment and instruments. This role is responsible for demonstrating a commitment to supply safe food, maintain a food safety culture within the site, continually improve the site's food safety management system and comply with customer and regulatory requirements.
Position Details:
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7a-3p with overtime
Hourly pay rate: $32.44

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Preventive maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and part replacement of plant equipment
  • Welding and cutting using a torch: tig, mig, and stick on piping and structural
  • Rigging and using cables and slings
  • Sheet metal layouts
  • Assembly and installation of bearings on shafts
  • Alignment of motors and gearboxes
  • Parts lubrication and other maintenance tasks
  • Regular inspections of grain equipment
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Millwright/Mechanic experience (3+ years preferred)
  • TWIC card or ability to obtain TWIC card

Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associate degree and/or technical certification
  • Welding and cutting using a torch
