Job description

Overview

Selects, supervises and evaluates Sterile Processing instrument room staff; prepares and adjusts employee work schedule according to available staff and workload. Plans, organizes, and directs the movement of work flow to expedite returning processed instrument trays to the Operating Room in a timely manner. Assists the Assistant Director in the budget planning. Coordinates with user departments the timely delivery of needed trays and individual instruments. Establishes and maintains Quality Improvement indicators and standards in the department. Coordinates department orientation for new employees. Ensures staff development and education. Assists with providing monthly in-services and ongoing in-services when procedure changes are made. Qualifications: Certified Sterile processing Technician required or Certified Surgical Technician with SPD experience preferred, with the understanding that certification must be obtained within eligibility timeframe. Prefer Associate Degree in Computer, Business, or Management. Previous supervisor or management experience preferred.
