Located at our Core Lab (Moraine, OH)

Full-time Salaried Position Working Evening/Nights

Position Summary: 

The Supervisor is responsible for the day to day supervision of 2nd and 3rd shift staff, effective planning, organization and supervision of multiple areas within the Specimen Processing department, including all work processes and employees in order to meet customer and business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct supervision/mentoring to all 2nd and 3rd shift processing staff and temporary employees in concert with the company vision and mission to meet business objectives and customer expectations.
  • Facilitates positive communication and interaction with internal and external customers.
  • Collaborates with Manager on department interviews.
  • Measures and documents employee performance on an ongoing basis. Writes and presents the probationary and annual performance appraisals of department staff.  Ensures that employee’s goals are meaningful and follow the company’s goals. 
  • Prepares fair and unbiased corrective action of staff when necessary.
  • Prepares and submits monthly reports as needed to the Manager including department QA monitors, requisition QC, productivity and employee overtime. Provides additional reports as needed/requested.
  • Demonstrates competency in all department functions and duties.
  • Actively participates in the safety program for the department in accordance with the policies set forth by the safety officer. Fosters and promotes a culture of safety within the department.  Complies with all company and department safety and health policies.
  • Handle patient and/or client issues in a customer friendly and timely manner. Informs Manager of all patient/client issues, documents using QA processes and forwards to the Quality manager or risk manager when needed.
  • Sets an example in work ethics and company values for all employees to follow.
  • Approves department time cards, creates department schedule.
  • Assists marketing with clients in an educational and customer service capacity.
  • Contributes to the overall effectiveness of CompuNet by performing other administrative and/or educational duties as needed.
  • Utilize document control for record keeping, reporting, documenting and monitoring root cause analysis and process improvements.
  • Assist with oversight and performs department staff education/training on all procedures and policies:  company, departmental, compliance and regulatory. Facilitates department and staff compliance with all company, departmental, compliance and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the management with department budgets by reviewing monthly budget variances. 
  • Review supply orders and places orders in the supply ordering system. Manage department expenses in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Prepare and submit employee payroll information on a bi-weekly basis. Consistently meet deadlines.
  • Contribute to the overall effectiveness of CompuNet by performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or equivalent; prefer associate or bachelor’s degree in lab, science or business management discipline.
  • Minimum of three years successful leadership or supervisory experience in positions of progressively increasing responsibility in lab, medical or production setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership, strong interpersonal skills and good verbal/written communications.
  • Sound reasoning ability and good independent judgment.
  • Ability to work within specified deadlines and timetables.
  • Demonstration of consistently high integrity and accuracy.
  • Experience with software applications including Microsoft Office products.

Physical & Safety Demands:

  • There is a high level of noise in the laboratory.
  • Will need to sit at computer terminal or stand at work station for long periods of time.
  • Will need to read small print and decipher handwritten information.
  • Required to concentrate and perform meticulous quality control and data entry tasks for extended periods of time.
  • Repetitive hand movements while utilizing laboratory computers and handling specimens.
  • Will have exposure to biohazard substances and hazardous chemicals.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to safety, ergonomic and health policies of the Company.
  • Comply with all PPE requirements when in the laboratory or other biohazard areas.
  • Complete required safety training and health evaluations in a timely manner.
  • Anticipate safety hazards, act upon unsafe situations and promote safety awareness.
