Job description

This is a temporary position.

The Flex Director, Business Processis a key member of the Associate Experience + Business Process (AX+ BP) team within the Business Transformation Office (BTO), reporting to the Senior Director of AX + BP. The position is primarily responsible for supporting transformation initiatives engaging the BTO's support. The BTO has been established to enable and accelerate transformation through unique approaches to strategic planning, program management, change management, associate experience and business process design, continent coordination, and deployment. This role, as part of the BTO, will support the central orchestration and guidance on how business process design is approached and executed within transformation efforts to drive consistency, integration and value. Success in this role requires strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail, comfort with ambiguity, a proven ability to manage multiple work efforts at the same time, as well as the ability to work and collaborate across teams and disciplines.

Responsibilities include providing expertise, central orchestration, and frameworks for business process work across the organization.

  • EXPERTISE: For the enterprise, the Business Process team shares industry best practices, their deep understanding of business process methodologies, the latest tools and methods, and perspectives on how to leverage the business process mindset for meaningful growth and improvement. The team manages process transformation projects and stewards the enterprise business process hierarchy. The BP team coaches process owners and process modelers to build enterprise business process proficiency, and ensures quality and consistency across modeling efforts.
  • ORCHESTRATION: The Business Process team orchestrates end-to-end business process analysis, design, and continuous improvements that cross discipline / functional boundaries. The team leads expansive process discovery and design workshops to break down silos and drive an enterprise mindset. A deep focus on the associate experience drives global process design and sustainable process routines.
  • FRAMEWORKS: The Business Process team partners with disciplines to document current and future business processes, define where and how those processes fit into the enterprise business process hierarchy, uncover and illuminate opportunities for improvement, and create a foundation for innovation. The team ensures these processes and hierarchies align with enterprise governance for standardization and quality commitments.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

Required

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline
  • 8+ years of progressive work experience in experience design, change management, operations/Six Sigma, consulting or a related transformation-oriented discipline.
  • Demonstrated work experience in business process design, process innovation, or process transformation
  • Experience working in matrixed, global organization with exposure to coordinating across multiple functions and disciplines
  • Proven expertise supporting or leading large-scale, cross-functional transformation initiatives

Preferred

  • Experience working with business process mapping tools, specifically Signavio
  • Consulting experience is desired
  • Hospitality experience is desired

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

End-To-End Business Process Design

  • Lead the development of Marriott's cross-discipline business process architecture
  • Establish foundational end-to-end business processes focused first on areas most impacted by DTT
  • Conduct cross-discipline process discovery and design workshops to document current and future state business processes

Process Improvement

  • Design, develop and maintain business process documentations that will be used as reference for preparing test cases, change management, training, process outlines, flowcharts, and implementation procedures
  • Conduct internal controls testing and consult with stakeholders, helping them to understand opportunities for improvement
  • Develop and implement process solutions to improve operational efficiency, quality, and simplification

Managing Projects and Priorities

  • Functions as a strategic senior technical expert within the department.
  • Develops specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.
  • Champions leaders' vision for product and service delivery.
  • Makes and executes the necessary decisions to keep moving forward toward achievement of goals.

  • Determines priorities, schedules, plans and necessary resources to promote completion of any projects on schedule.

  • Reviews vendor proposals and selects appropriate vendor for services/technologies/hardware.
  • Thinks creatively and practically to develop, execute and implement new project plans.
  • Generates and provides accurate and timely results in the form of reports, presentations, etc.
  • Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates the quality of operations.
